Who's running the CYO league this year?????

Harrisburg City Catholic continued their outstanding 15-1 season with blowout wins over St.Mags on Sat.....

and Good Shep.on Sun. Lead by James Williams 25 and 26 pt. performances respectively......
They can wrap up first place in the CYO and this group of young mens first winning season with a win @ Holy Name Sat.1:30 or St. Joes's Sun.@2:00pm.
Holy Name handed this team it's only defeat this year with a 3pt. buzzer beater on 12/18, so this should be one of the most exciting games of the CYO season looking at the the history of these two programs and this years prior meeting.
Here's what some of the CYO faithfuls have to say about the quality of the league....

The current senior class of high school players in the CYO as 8th graders was amazing. The St. Catherine team that won the Diocesan Title that year also featured current McD QB, Alec Werner, Susquehanna QB Anthony Gelbaugh and a D-I football signee in McD's Brock Dean (Maryland). The St. Anne team they played in the Diocesan title game featured Adam DePietro of Lancaster Catholic, who signed a full football scholarship with Northwestern and led LC to the state title. McD's Polacheck played that year at Seven Sorrows, the entire Trinity team played in the league and on and on.

Harrisburg Catholic vs. St. Theresa III in the playoffs promises to be a great game. St. Joseph, Mechanicsburg is playing well too. Beat Holy Name last night. CYO top notch league. D-I scholarships this year for Mike Zangari/Logan Stumpf from St. Theresa, Devin Thomas from Holy Name and possibly Aaron Devan from St. Catherine and Matt Banas from St. Joan of Arc....

  1. Make no mistake this is not a one man team. The teams up and down the court style is lead by Joe Joe Headen a good shooter and distributor, also the boards are control by first year player (Shaneal Johnson) and it all start with the aggressive defense lead by coaches son Jaron Scott.

Keep an eye on this team and with any luck and some consistent shooting they may make a legitimate run at a state title.

  2. James Williams and Joe Joe Headen (8th. Graders) are one of the top young combos in this area, you don't hear a lot about them due to playing in the CYO, but McDevitt is in the near future.

  3. Good luck Harrisburg Catholic Wolves or whomever comes out of the Harrisburg Diocese. Represent the Dio at States well. Good to see Harrisburg Catholic making a run at things for the first time in a long while.

  4. Congratulations to Harrisburg City Catholic as they wrapped up first place in the CYO Varsity Division with a hard fought low scoring affair with Holy Name yesterday.

HCC pulled out a 32-28 victory. First winning season and division title in some time. This team looks focused to complete this amazing turnaround with a regular season ending victory today at St.Joe's (Mech.)@2:00pm.

With the play they're getting from all areas of the game and the possible return of sharp shooting Manny Piper for the playoffs with a little luck, they could advance deep into the playoffs.

This is a dangerous young team and I wouldn't want to run into them in upcoming Diocese Tournaments.

  5. Harrisburg City Catholic ended their incredible regular season with a 47-40 defeat to St. Joe's (Mech.). It ends a terrific regular season for this group of young men.

They have to forget about this lost and start getting focused on the Round Robin tournament starting tomorrow at Main St. Gym.

    Good Luck Guys
