The Harrisburg area has some great basketball going on these days.... You can go uptown Harrisburg and get some good run at the YMCA, you can go to Susquehanna and play at Thomas Holtzman in their junior league (5th grade and under) or Steelton Elementary in the Albert's Pony league on the weekends....
Today's featured game happens to be in Steelton where two undefeated teams went at it hard..... All I can say is "WHAT A GAME"......
This game featured the returning champs Team Pontes playing against the league favorites this year, Naples Pizza....
Napples feature 5th grade sensations Jordan McCraw and Keon Bullock who make up a tough backcourt to defend.....
Pontes is led by tiny pg Donavan Medina (who is tough as nails), Tyrese Smith who stands at 5'9 as a 5th grader and Big John Pogasic who stands at 5'7....
Pontes came out strong and took an early 6 - 0 lead with Don Don Medina getting 3 quick assist... Twice to Pogasic and one to Smith.... After a Naples timeout, Bullock took over for Naples, scoring their next 4 points of the quarter....
As the game went on, Medina and Bullock went at it hard... Bullock played excellent defense on the ball as well as Medina... These two guys really harassed each other all game.... It's going to be difficult to find two guards who play as passionate and tough as these two and it made it a fun match up to watch.... The difference for Pontes is the "TWIN TOWERS" as the could not be stopped inside...
McCraw came into the game as the top scorer in the league but really had a tough time getting free as Pontes rotated lanky wing guys like Kobe Petrovich and Tamel Little on his side. Those guys plus Little Brian played excellent defense...
Pontes won the game 30 - 25 in a tough battle as John Pogasic led the way with 16 points and 12 rebounds, Tyrese Smith chipped in with 8 points and 10 rebounds while Donavan Medina scored 2 pts, 7 steals and had 8 assist for the game...
Naples leading scorer was Keon Bullock as he scored 13 points and 7 steals but he needed the help of his running mate McCraw who had a rough night with only 2 points but had 5 steals....
McCraw won't have too many more of those games so Pontes can cherish that moment.....
Great game both teams and keep up the good work...
