Rollers get "Rolled on" by East....

CD East and Steelton has had some great games in the past years.....  Players like Jon Breeden, Demond Bates, Amani Glenn and Terrence Kellum up against Lloyd Hill, Jordan Smith, Ryan Hill, and Jeff Davis always made this rivalry fun to watch....    This game started off that way as both teams fought hard to end the first quarter with 9 points a piece.....

First quarter had balanced scoring for East with 3 points a piece by Reggie Dudley, Tony McCraw and Anthony "AWright" Wright while SH was led by defensive minded Trent Chisolm with 4 points and Mark Perry with 2pts and 3 rebs.....

When the 2nd quarter came, so did the action....  SH went on a 10 - 2 run causing East to call timeout....  CD East looked as if they knew they were going to win the game and just had no sense of urgency....  The run was sparked by emerging soph Shaquin "Q" McNeil as he was a monster inside the paint.  East had no movement on offense as the 3-2 zone by SH looked effective......

Then East went on a 6-0 run themselves with a corner jumper by Eddie "Always Steady" Cowan, followed by a transition bucket by Aris" Air Up There" Scott and another by Reggie "All Left" Dudley...  That's when the intensity picked up for East....  Cowan and AWright were all over SH guards causing them to turn the ball over left and right which gave them a 25- 24 lead going into halftime....

Once the 3rd quarter began, East carried the momentum from the 2nd quarter over to the 3rd as they out scored SH 22 - 10....  McCraw scored 9 pts and Dudley had 8pts all from tough defense and causing SH to turn the ball over....  On top of that, Cowan controlled the pace of the game and kept his team under control while showing incredible patients on offense....

Cowan may not be the flashiest player around, but he is the most steady, confident and consistent pg in this area HANDS DOWN!!!!  Some may dis agree but the film never lie....  College coaches are beginning to see what an asset this kid can be to a program and already as a junior he's getting a little attention from a few PSAC schools.....

As the 4th quarter began, East had full control since SH was in the double bonus....  Cowan would step to the line and can about 10 free throws in the 4th quarter alone to seal the victory...

East was too good off the dribble tonight as McCraw, Dudley and Cowan went wherever they wanted on the floor....  McCraw led all scorers with 18 pts and 6 rebs, Dudley chipped in with 17 pts and 9 rebs, Cowan had 14 pts, 4 assist and 5 steals, AWright had a great all around game with 7 pts, 9 rebs, 5 steals, 3 asist and 1 block while Scott had 6 pts and 6 rebs but also kept the ball alive on the offensive glass all night....

Steelton was led by Mark "Little Man" Perry with 12 pts, Broderick Settles-Simmons came off the bench with 10 pts, Shaquin McNeil scored 9pts and grabbed 8 rebs off the bench and JC Brandt also had 9 pts....

Millberry is a talented player with a lot of heart but there's more to this game than passion....  If he can dedicate himself to being a true student of this game by watching film, breaking down the good and the bad, then make some changes, he can have consistent good play....  I'd also like to see him work on the pull up jumper on his on time....  Coaches can only do but so much, kids have to take ownership in their future and the success of their team....  They will go as far as Millberry can take them....

It also would have been nice to see back up pg James Warren be more assertive on both ends of the floor....  He's too athletic to finish a game with no stats at all....  He played very well vs McD but has to learn how to handle success and keep it going...  The future looks bright but Roller fans want the present to be bright so it's time for them to re group and get ready to face the COUGARS tomorrow afternoon....   Should be an interesting game.....
