Another packed house in the Steelton Elementary gym, you would have thought there was a high school game going on.... Low and behold, it was just another one of the popular Steelton Pony league games which probably drew a crowd of close to 200 people.....
Ponte's Ponies was playing Mr. Mikes in a traditional battle between two pony power house teams.... The game started off with a nice matchup between Mr. Mikes pg Duece Herb and Pontes pg Donavan "Mighty Mouse" Medina as these two took turns pushing the ball and defending like crazy...
Pontes seemed to be a little too much for Mr. Mikes as Big John Pogasic and Tyrese Smith controlled the paint area limiting Mr. Mike to few second chance opportunities....
Pontes went on a nice 16 - 2 run that Mr. Mikes just couldn't recover from.... Easy baskets by Pogasic and Smith inside plus the combination of Medina and sharp shooter Tamel Little hurt Mr. Mikes from the perimeter as Little hit a sweet shot off the glass from a Medina pass on the left and then he knocked down another bank shot from a Medina pass on the right side of the court....
Pontes ended up winning the game 22 - 9 as Mr. Mikes was led by 5th grader Javion Grant with 6 points and 8 rebounds and Duece Herb contributed with 2 points and 5 steals... Pontes was led by John Pogasic with 10 points and 7 rebs, Tyrese Smith had 4 points and 10 rebs, 4th grader Tamel Little chipped in with 4 points, 6 rebs and 3 steals, while Mighty Mouse Medina contributed with 4 points, 5 assist and 7 steals....
Can't wait to see the next battle between these two teams.....
