Mid Penn team ranking by Centralpabasketball (updated 2/02/12)....

Here's how the rankings are looking after the 5th week of games.....  Just a little movement in the rankings this week as the top 5 stay the same....

#1 - Central Dauphin - These are a steady group of guys that play together very well....  Ryan Beaver has turned into the 2nd option on the team....  Zayd has been a great help for Devin underneath the basket....   He's playing extremely well these days....  If Thomas can stay focused on a State title goal, CD can run through the entire District.....   Thomas has to remember that he is a target in this area and just stay focused on the team goal, not the officials....  Tough for a kid to do but he has to try....  Only 1 loss but could be undefeated if Devin played against Harrisburg the first time...

#2 - Hershey - This group of upperclassmen can play with anyone in the area. With a guy like Harold Brantley roaming the lane, and Matt Banas playing like a Divison 1 player, it's tough to stop Hershey right now...  Undefeated so far...  Who's going to be the first team to take Hershey down??????

#3 - Harrisburg - On any given day, these Cougars could take over this area.... I think it's a matter of time before they move closer to the top of this list... Nice win vs Williamsport and Chambersburg last week....  They also topped a hot McDevitt...   Tough to move up any higher until they can beat CD WITH Devin Thomas.....  Maybe they will meet in Districts...

#5 - Green Castle - Coach Martin always has something up his sleeve. He has the guards, the bigs, and the knowledge to make some noise on the AAA level. They're off to a strong start.  The twins are tough to stop as they lead an undefeated team through the second half of the season.  If they were in a tougher conference, with the same record, they just might be #1...

#4 - Cedar Cliff - These guys may be starting to get it together now....  Will Hopkins has stepped up as another weapon on the team and Colton Lewis is turning into a legit low post threat....  He might be playing his way to a Division 1 scholarship.....  Still can't believe he was on the bench at Susquehanna but I've seen stranger things happen....  Tight loss to Hershey last week....   Division 1 recruit Logan Stumpf has to do more....  Teams are targeting him and this is when a D1 guy shows what he's about....

#6 - Trinity - All they do is re load and these guys have a lot of weapons this year. They are playing well and had a fantastic game vs Middletown...  They just couldn't come up with the victory...  You never know who going to hurt you on any given day...

#7 - CD East - East has all the pieces they need to have success... Can the new coach guide them in close games is what the fans are wondering. Had a great win vs Harrisburg, only to follow up with a disappointing loss to McDevitt....   Reggie Dudley is the go to guy when they need a bucket but Eddie "Always Steady" Cowan is the engine in that car.....   They go as he goes.....  Tough loss to Chambersburg this week....  Can they take down the Mighty Cougars on Friday????  Gonna be tough without AWright playing...

#8 - McDevitt  - Winning 7 of their last 8 games, these guys are one of the hottest teams around....  It's not just one player making noise...  It's been a team effort from 1 - 7 guys on a regular basis....  Strong come back game vs Steelton to split the series this season.... and a tough loss to CD in overtime that many McD fans say should have been over in regulation due to a referee error.....   Nevertheless, they are still playing well...   Tough loss to LD without Aaron Devan and Donte Vaughn...

#9 - Gettysburg - These guys have really been under the radar but are really playing well right now.....  With two big time scoring threats Cody Kiefer and Benntion Reshard - Hendricks, these guys have a chance against just about anyone around....

#10 - Middletown - Back in the top 10, these guys are just prepping for a run in the playoffs....  They have 3 legit scorers in Diebler, Zimmerman and McElwee but will need to win the games they're suppossed to win....   No time for slip ups....

  1. Middletown runs the flex better than Trinity as even the famous Flex gur himself, Coach Bob Schlosser of Etown college said.

  2. They're doing something really good out in Middletown for sure....

On another note, there's two kids I'm looking for but I don't know their names. One is an 8th grader who is super athletic, I think his name is Adrian. The other kid is the pg on the 6th grade team and is really good. Any help would be appreciated.

  3. Coach, what team are you talking about for the 6th grader. They have a 6th grade travel team as well as the Seven Sorrows program?

They have some very good 6th graders that play on both teams.

  4. The kid I'm speaking of played on the 5th grade championship team in the Middletown All Star tournament in Main Street gym. They beat Steelton All Stars.

  7. Hey, that can change by the first week in January.... We're talking the present and not past wins here.... I've always though CD was #1 and Cedar Cliff #2.... Cliff lost to an undefeated Hershey team so now they're at #3.... Burg at #4 is fine for now.... They play better as underdogs.

    1. McDevitt beat Cedar Cliff, Milton Hershey, and Trinity in pre-season scrimmages and East last night in conference game.
McDevitt killed East Penn; Trinity beat them by 2 at the buzzer.
I believe you have underrated McDevitt big-time.

    2. Scrimmages mean nothing, you know that.... East is just an ok team who has 1 quality win (Harrisburg)..... East Penn is weak, they just had a good game against Trinity.... McD earned their way up into the top 10.... Who should they be higher than on this list?

    3. McD should be ahead of Milton Hershey and East, 2 of McD's losses are to #2 and #3 in your rankings, East and McD have the same amount of losses but McD beat them head to head. They should be ahead of MH based on strength of schedule and ahead of East because they beat East on their floor.....

    4. And since u asked; let's go one more

      Trinity McDevitt
      #1Agnew v.Johnson winner Johnson
#2.Wesner v.Vaugn too close to call; give it too Trinity
      #3.DeFrank v. DeVann winner DeVANN
      #4.Polochak v. Dill winner Polachak
      #5.Kunz/TRUMPY V.Brooks/Hudson winner McDevitt

      4 to 1 McDevitt

coaching: remember last years district play-offs; McDevitt

Based on all these absolute , indisputable facts McDevitt should jump over those three teams

  8. McDevitt is definitely playing better ball right now but rankings are subjective. Good stuff, Coach Little.

  9. McD is getting better but some really bad early losses hurt them.... lost to Central York, who lost to Lower Dauphin by 20.... Harrisburg by 29, CD by 27.... That's the past and they are playing better now... That's why they got into the top 10... Just because a team beats another team doesn't put them ahead instantly.... It's only 1 game.... I like them though...

  10. McD fans think they were robbed against CD?? Anti-Devin Thomas calls including a T that should get the ref thrown out of the Chapter and they think they were the victim?
