Mid Penn looking good in AAAA Districts as Harrisburg, CD East and Chambersburg advance...

THIS IS WHY WE PLAY THE GAME......   You hear that statement time and time again but this year we see it really means something....
In a game that had a lot on the line, Harrisburg came up big over Central Dauphin with a 79 - 71 victory to move them onto a battle against The York Bearcats on Tuesday in what should be a Semi Finals brawl....

CD got big play from, you  know who, Devin Thomas with a game high 39 points while going 24 - 36 from the free throw line himself.  That's almost unheard of for one player to knock down 24 free throws in one game but he did it.....   It seemed like neither team could really get into a grove as the Harrisburg fans booed and heckled the officials all afternoon....

Harrisburg had 5 players foul out the game (Dom Lewis, Rell Patterson, Steven Stoney, Ashton Cooksey-Easter and Chris Britton) but still managed to pull out the win....  probably because they had a player named Haiisheen McIntyre who dropped 37 points himself including a layup to send the game into overtime, plus a 3 ball to send it into double overtime...

McIntyre is showing game after game why some Division 1 school better grab him know before he makes a D2 school very happy.....

Harrisburg still has a chance to win Districts while CD will be playing for the 5th seed.....  If they slip up and play for the 7th seed, they will most likely end up seeing Chester in round 1 of States unless Chester end up losing in the District 1 playoffs....   That would be a tough game for CD to open with....

CD East handled E-Town with a 73 - 49 final score...  This was a great win for East as they are going back to States since 2009 when they won the District Championships...   This game was all about team as Reggie Dudley caught fire and led the way with 23 points and 8 rebs, while Aris Scott chipped in 24 points and 13 rebounds  including a MEAN DUNK on an Alley Oop pass from Tony McCraw that brought the house down....  Scott looked like Dwayne Wade as he flew in the air so graceful and did everything but rip the rim down (see Devin Thomas)....

Today, East didn't get a bunch of points from Eddie "Always Steady" Cowan as he only scored 2 points on 1 - 3 shooting, but what they did get was a game high 13 assist and 5 steals and 7 rebounds as he once again led his team to a victory..  Anthony Wright also played a big role in the win with his 9 points, 4 steals, 6 rebs and a bunch of hustle plays....  This kid is going to be a great prospect in the near future....

East will play Chambersburg next who beat Dover 63 - 49 being led by Andrew Plank and his 24 points....   The winner will move on to the Championship game next Saturday.....

Good Luck to everyone...

Coach Little

  3. At the end of the day, good agressive defense will always put you in position to win the close ones. Hats off, to Coach Smallwood and he crew for keeping their heads up throughout the questionable officiating at the Giant Center today. To all of the Harrisburg bench, "I give you the Game Ball!".

  5. Those Harrisburg boys wanted that game.... Those players have no idea what they just did for their coach.... For Harrisburg to go out the way they did in the championships in 06 was heart breaking.... These guys just helped to make it a little easier to deal with.... It's tough to hold a good Cougar down...

  6. The press would have you believe that Devin Thomas had a great day on the foul line, quiet as it is kept, if ANY player from Harrisburg even blew on a CD player, they were called for a foul. Sad to say not the same on the other of the court...there is no way Harrisburg should have had 5 players foul out like that. At the end of the first half Hbg had 18 to 20 fouls and CD only had 4...Yes, all but one starter fouled out, but in the end CD got beat by the 2nd and 3rd string "D E E P B E N C H"
