"Always Steady" leads East in an upset over Cedar Cliff....

It doesn't get any better than this if you're a CD East fan....  Excited about getting back to the playoffs since winning the gold in 2009, CD East fans have something else to cheer about....  They have a great chance to go to States as well because they took down one of the District 3 favorites Cedar Cliff.....
CD East went into a hostile environment tonight and pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the playoffs thus far beating Cedar Cliff 57 - 53....  This was a game that most people thought was a cup cake game for Cedar Cliff....  I mentioned before if East was going to lose, it's because of Eddie but if they were going to win, it's because of Eddie....

I guess I was right, Eddie "Always Steady" Cowan led the way (19 points, 7 assist and 5 steals) as he played probably the best game of his 3 year varsity career....   He scored when they needed him to....  Made the right pass, got the defensive stops, and was just an extra coach on the floor for the Panthers....

Now, don't get it twisted, he wasn't the only player who stepped up for East....  He had help from just about each player that played...  Anthony "AWright" Wright competed strong on the inside and came up with 11 big points including 7 from the free throw line....  Tony McCraw scored 11 points as well but played tremendous defense all over the court while Reggie Dudley may not have been on fire this game, but his presence alone opened up the floor for others to operate...   Aris Scott played a huge defensive game helping to hold Colton Lewis to just 4 points....  Scott was also a monster on the glass cleaning up 14 boards....

Cedar Cliff was led by Gardner Webb recruit Logan Stumpf who scorched East with a game high of 23 points in his last and final game for The Cliff....

This game came down to free throws and turnovers as East was able to knock down 21 free throws to Cedar Cliff's 11.....

Great job fellas and many blessings on your next game vs E-Town...

  1. Last night was my first opportunity to see the young Cowan kid play and he's all that's advertised.

He's a coach on the floor that shoots well and makes great decisions with the ball. The atmosphere was crazy last night.

GREAT job CD East going into hostile environment and getting a HUGE win.

  2. i was some what surprised by this, but it was a hard fought game by both. Cedar cliff seemed to not be playing up to their ability or as a team! The Cliff had one player playing hard, that was Logan Stumpf. No one else stepped up. Stumpf was unstoppable. He is a great kid and i wish him luck in his college career. I do believe the refs weren't to great. They played a big role in this lose as well.

  3. I guess East's coach had the right game plan. Your write ups always seem a little bitter towards him Why?

    1. Bad choice of words on your part... I write what I see.... I focus more on the kids.... East is blessed to have players that have been groomed for this year... Just like when Cedar Cliff was groomed by Gary Martin and Rowe took over... Rowe proved he could keep it going. Time will tell at East...
