Naples beat Pontes as Jaqui Jenkins and Tyrece Little go head to head....

On a Thursday night with not much going on the the area with HS sports, lots of people took a trip down to Steelton to see what the young kids are looking like....  I tell you what, they saw a great one tonight between a group of young future stars.....

Both teams came out looking ready to play but Naples took control early going on a 10 - 2 run behind 8th grade rising star Jaqui Jenkins.....  He used his crafty ball handling skills to get to the basket at will or pull up for some sweet jumpers...  Jenkins went on to score 9 of his teams 16 first quarter points while for Pontes, Tyrece Little scored 4pts and Jai Burney scored 3pts for the quarter...

The second quarter was much of the same as Jenkins was a terror on both ends of the court tallying 3 blocks and scoring another 5 pts for the quarter....  Naples used a half court trap to force Pontes into making bad passes which led to 6 easy points for Dion "Pac Man" Patterson on the fast break....

Ty Little was all over the court getting steals and attacking the basket but Naples had multiple defenders around him, really making it difficult for him to score....

Naples would go into halftime with a 38 - 18 lead...  Pontes was trying to figure out what to do next....  One thing they didn't do was give up...   This is when Tyrece Little turned it on....   Little got followup layups, coast to coast drives, pull up jumpers, you name it....  He put Pontes on his back scoring 25 points in the second half alone, bringing Pontes within 4 points with 2 minutes left in the game....   Jenkins and Patterson were a little too much as Pontes having only 6 players, ran out of energy as Jenkins did a great job finding the open man almost every time down court..

Naples ended up winning the game 59 - 53 as Jaqui Jenkins led Naples with 23 points, 9 assist and 6 blocks while Dion "Pac Man" Patterson chipped in 18 points....  They also got some good steady ball handling from 6th grader Amiq Jenkins who didn't score much today (2pts) but was very effective helping to break the pressure from Pontes.....

7th grader Tyrece Little led all scorers with 34 points, 14 rebs and 2 assist as he tried all he could do to win...  5th grader Jai Burney who is probably the youngest Midget chipped in 8pts while 6th grader Tiara Little had 3pts and 6 assist plus showed a few nifty moves with the ball in her hands....

Great game guys and we look forward to the next one....
