HCC and St. Theresa slug it out again in the CYO league.....

In the finals of the CYO Bishop Daley Tournament, Harrisburg City Catholic and St. Theresa played for the fifth time this year with both teams having won two games a piece.

St. Theresa had the momentum winning the last two meetings, but HCC looked to recapture the excellent play that had them atop the CYO varsity division all year.

The game started with HCC's Manny Piper hitting a deep three, he seems to have found his legs and shoot again after returning from a coach's suspension late in the regular season.

This was a very hard played, physical game that St. Theresa  never seemed able to find a rhythm on offensive in, due to good defense played by HCC. St. Theresa's go to player Derrick Ford had to work hard for every point he scored and talented 7th, grade pg Austin Gilbertson wasn't allowed to jump start the offense with his driving and outside shooting.

On the other side HCC looked as focused as I've seen them this year. On offense it started with the continued solid play of pg Joe Joe Headen's driving scores and slick assist, the outside game was lead by Piper, Jaron Scott and two BIG late three's to put the game away by seldom used 7th. grader Mickey Lopez.

The dirty work down low was headed up by HCC's go to player James William's who continued his hot play with a 18pt.14rb. outing, but let's not forget the young man I call (Rodman), Sahneal Johnson in his first year of organized basketball has become a corner stone of this team with his defensive play and rebounding, game after game he's asked to play the other teams best inside player, he's the type of player that you don't run plays for because he's going to get those hard nose unnoticed plays, if he had the interest in basketball as he does in football he could be just as good of a basketball player as he is a football player

The final score of the game was 50-34, but this possibly isn't the last time these two teams could meet heading into the league's Diocesan Tournament which the winner will represent the Diocese of Harrisburg in the PA. State CYO Finals.

This is a solid young team that's playing well at the right time of the year. There could be something special happening here with a little luck and continued great team play.
