Round two of the heated match between Emmanuel Baptist and Valley Forge was well worth the price of admission..... Screaming fans, grandmothers jumping, referees yelling at fans to stop talking, and then some.....
This game went back and forth for most of the first half as both teams could never really find a groove... Other than Horace Ellison from Valley Forge who scored 8 in the 1st quarter... EBCA was down by 3 points headed into the 2nd quarter and that's when they began to turn it up a notch.... Collin Reeves scored on back to back transition breaks from Bud Mack's outlet passes and then Ty Little found Jansen Morrison in the corner for his only three of the night... After an inside basket by Valley Forge's Alec Harrod, Bud Mack would then grab the rebound going coast to coast twice to get on the board....
EBCA took a 25 - 19 lead headed into the half.... Although they had the lead, one thing they had to know was that Valley Forge was going to keep fighting... and that they did.... They came out with a balance attack in the third quarter but was led by Ellison as he and Mack went back and forth scoring for their teams..... Mack scored 8 points in the quarter to Ellison's 6 but the game was tied at 37 due to a nice drive to the basket by Tyrece Little and he drew the foul....
When the fourth quarter came, VF played a box and 1 defense on Mack and tried to force someone else to beat them... EBCA had trouble figuring it out as they shot too many jumpers against the defense instead of attacking the gaps and looking for lay ups... With VF up by two points, Mack made a nice drive and dish to Little who he found underneath, and Little laid it in for the tie... After a steal, Little was fouled and went to the line with the game tied at 46... He was shooting the one and one but missed the front end and gave VF some hope.... Ellison took the ball coast to coast and scored to give VF a two point lead... After a miss by Mack, Ellison did the same exact move but found his big guy Thomas Grace for his only basket of the night to give VF a 4 point lead with 12 secs left... EBCA could never recover losing the game 51 - 46...
Horace Ellison led all scorers with 18 points for Valley Forge.... Nehemiah "Bud" Mack led EBCA with 14 pts, 14 rebs, 5 assist, 5 blocks and 3 steals, Tim Kile contributed 11 pts, 7 rebs and 6 steals, Collin Reeves had 8 pts and Tyrece Little had 8 points, 6 rebs and 2 assist off the bench....
Nehemiah "Bud" Mack had a huge week of basketball scoring 64 points, hauling down 53 rebounds dishing 21 assist and 11 steals.... FYI....
