TOO MUCH MATT "RIM BREAKER" BANAS......

In a game where both teams are undefeated, somebody had to lose.....  CD East and Hershey were playing for something tonight....  East had to prove that they could win a game against a good team and Hershey needed to prove they are the top team in this area, Hershey is making a good case, winning 63 - 51 at CD East......

Matt Banas goes for two
Early in this basketball game, it was all about 6'3 265 pounder Harold Brantley who made it a point to grab everything that came off the glass.  Brantley was a monster, grabbing 9 rebounds and scoring 6 points before halftime....   While Brantley was rebounding, 6'8 WF Matt Banas was quietly killing CD East with short jumpers, slips to the basket and nice inside moves....

CD East started to light it up from the outside with fiery scorer Reggie Dudley hitting 1 three and Tony McCraw hitting two more of them.  McCraw was tough for Hershey to handle, scoring 9 points, grabbing 2 rebounds and getting 2 steals before the half....  Hershey was all over Dudley as they knew how dangerous he could be and they did a very good job letting each other know where he was at on the court....

The 3rd quarter was still all about Hershey as Banas began to take over and brought the lead to 41 - 31 by the beginning of the 4th quarter...

This is when the game really got good...  4th quarter was the A-Wright/McCraw show early on as East went on a 6 - 0 run with a lay up by Wright, strong drive and two free throws by McCraw bring the lead down to 4.  Then the game began to go back and forth with a Hershey three pointer...  but then "Always Steady" Eddie Cowan (4 pts, 8 assist) found A-Wright on the wing for three...

Brantley makes two free throws followed by two free throws by McCraw....

As the time started to dwindle, Jim Brier( 10 points ) knocked down 5 free throws as the game began to get into double figures....  Hershey did turn the ball over too much but finally broke the pressure and found Banas as he DUNKS AND BREAK THE RIM on his 26th and 27th points of the game.....
Freshman Joe Lemelle was found in the corner by Cowan as he knocked down his only 3 point shot attempt of the game to bring the lead down to 8 as the time expired.

For Hershey, Banas finished the game with 27 points and 10 rebounds while Brantley chipped in 8 points and 12 rebounds.....

For East, McCraw finished with a team high of 20 points, Dudley was held to 10 points, while A-Wright had another 10 point game off the bench with 3 rebounds....

Overall analysis, CD East played too much 1 on 1 basketball, shot too many 3 pointers and ran little to no plays at all!  The incredible thing about it is they still had a great chance to win the game....  Remove a couple of technical fouls and it's a different ball game....  Hershey couldn't handle the ball well at all but once they got it into the half court, they found their bigs.  Good coaching job by Hershey for recognizing the mis match and taking advantage of it.  CD East never utilized WF Aris Scott as he could have gone by all of Hersheys forwards all night....

I would love to see this match up again........
