Some teams sneak, some teams flop....

Every season we see a group of teams we thought were going to be horrible and they end up being pretty good.  Then there's some teams we thought would have a dynamite season and they totally choke....

Let's take a look at a few schools on my radar on both sides...

Surprise teams....

Palmyra - These guys have been getting beat up on for years but now it's time for them to give it back.  Expect Palmyra to find a way to sneak into the playoffs this year as they are led by a more experienced group now.

McDevitt - This is a group that can catch fire from the outside at any moment.  The scary thing is that it's not just one guy who can shoot.  With the addition of All Purpose Freshman Milik Gantz who can play 4 positions in a HS game plus sharp shooter Donte Vaughn, McDevitt can really make some noise in the Commonwealth this year.  Let's not forget about the hungiest pg in the area Jaquan Johnson and Aaron Devan who lets it fly as soon as he steps into the gym.

CD East - This is a team that can no longer use youth as an excuse as it was a rebuilding year for the past two seasons.  Led by a trio of seniors in Aris Scott, Reggie Dudley and Tony McCraw, east should be able to close out a lot of close games this year.  It never hurts to have a pg like Eddie Cowan around to keep things in order too.

Steelton - Just when you thought it was all over for Steelton, in comes soph pg Jordan Millberry who brings a whole lot of energy, passion and heart to the team.  Steelton faithfuls have a light of hope now that he's back to go along with Anthony Ferguson, JC Brandt and Broderick Simmons.  They may still be a little in experienced but they will be more competitive now.

Here's a look at the teams that could FLOP.....

Susquehanna - On paper, it's hard to find a team more talented than these guys.  The problem is there just isn't enough basketballs to go around for all of these guys.  If Coach Rogers can find a way to manage the egos and get his "MAIN" guys to think "team first", they can have a great season.  If not, this could be a huge dissappointment for everyone involved.

Hershey - Hershey has all the tools they need to have a great season and they will make the playoffs.  The question is, "How deep?" .  If Matt Banas can develop into the player we all thought he would be when we saw him as a freshman, they can beat any team in this area.  If not, there's a chance they could have an early exit from Districts or States.

Chambersburg - All I can say is WOW!!!!  These guys were suppossed to be one heck of a team and then the top pg in the league goes down with a season ending knee injury.  Skyler Roman will be missed sorely and it will be tough to replace him.  Expect some early growing pains from these guys.

It would be great to hear your thoughts......
