Albert Hi and Pontes make it to the championships in the Steelton Midget league....

With the season winding down and teams fighting to get to that final game, you had to expect some nail bitters tonight....   We got what we wished for as both games came down to the wire but on tonight, Albert Hi and Pontes would prevail.....

In the first game, Albert Hi and Mr. Mikes played a hard fought game with Albert Hi pulling out a 1 point win 33 - 32...  This was a defensive battle from bell to buzzer as both teams had trouble finding a rhythm in this game....

One thing for sure was Albert Hi's pg Casey Caruso wasn't going out without fighting as he led his team with a brilliant 18 point performance and now has the chance to win the big trophy on the big stage....

Malikai Young led Mr. Mikes with 14 pts and 12 rebs but just couldn't pull it out in the end....   Mr. Mikes was missing valuable guard Jaylen Hawthorne who is out with a toe injury....  They could have really used him tonight but Albert Hi was missing Caruso's backcourt mate Corday as his whereabouts where unknown....

Albert Hi gets the rights to play Pontes, who is a team that Albert Hi has never lost to this year....

Pontes was the 4 seed coming into the playoffs and bumped the #1 seed and undefeated Naples team in a 67 - 59 all out war.....

Naples jumped out to a 17 - 3 lead as Pontes looked discombobulated.....  Willie Davis from Naples scored 6 points straight and sensational guard Jaqui Jenkins got in the lane hitting floaters at will.....

After a much needed Pontes timeout, they switched their defense to man to man plus inserted Pony Allstar Donovin Medina and the rest was history.....  Pontes scored 21 points in the 2nd quarter to Naples 12 as Jaqui Jenkins got into foul trouble picking up 3 fouls in the first half....

That allowed 6th grade phenom Tiara Little and Medina to apply full court pressure on Naples as they created turnover after turnover....

2017 guard Tyrece Little

The second half was pretty much a back and forth game as Pontes Tyrece Little and Naples Jaqui Jenkins took turns making play after play.....   Little played big whether he was attacking the basket, finding teammates offensive rebounding or just keeping his team under control....

Pontes had plenty of players step up tonight....  Ty Little finished with 17 pts, 14 rebs and 7 assist, Jai Burney chipped in 14 pts off the bench, Tiara Little scored 12 pts, 4 rebs and 4 steals while Medina chipped in 12 pts and 4 assist but ran the team like a champ....

Naples was led by Jaqui Jenkins 25 points and 3 steals, Dion Patterson chipped in 14 pts while Willie Davis scored 14pts and 12 rebs....

Championship game will be Tuesday March 13th at 6:30pm at Steelton Elementary if you aren't doing anything....  Should be another great game....
