Top Seniors in the Mid Penn.....

With the season getting underway, let's take a look at the top seniors from the area....

Devin Thomas (CD) - The Wake Forest signee is well on his way to having another superb season.  Standing at 6'10, he will be a handful for EVERY team in the state.  Made 1st team All State
as a junior and will be considered a player of the year candidate this year.  He could end up becoming a Pro player in the next 3 years if his progress continues.
Mike Zangari (Red Land) - Mike is a 6'9 wing player who can light it up from the outside.
East Carolina made a great decision in locking him up before he becomes a household name.

Nol Aru (Cedar Cliff) - This 6'4 southpaw has the ability to squeeze his way through defenders and finish at will.  Very dangerous around the basket.

Aris Scott (CD East) - This kid is a super athlete who plays above the rim.  He can hit the jumper but prefers to slash to the basket.  Has great court vision as well.  Should have a monster season.

Logan Stumpf (Cedar Cliff) - The areas most improved player stayed under the radar for 3 years.  Time for him to shine now.  Logan just signed a letter of intent to Division 1 Gardner Webb University and the 6'6 shooting guard is ready to show everyone he's ready to take over.  He's a tremendous athlete who can light it up from the outside as well.

Christo Majok (Cedar Cliff) - As you can see, Cedar Cliff is loaded with upper classmen talent this year.  Christo is the do it all player for them.  He can play pg at 6'5 and his wing span is that of a 6'10 player.  Very dangerous in the open floor and can dish with the best of them.

Haiishen McIntyre (Harrisburg) - Thought of as an outside shooter, he's better when attacking the basket and finishing strong.  He's always looking to create a mismatch and can score in bunches.

Aaron Devan (Bishop McDevitt) - Can you say "LIGHTS OUT?"...  that's his game.  This kid has unlimited range on his jumper and with the 20 lbs of added muscle, the 6'4 190 lb guard is almost unguardable.  He may be the most prolific scorer in the Mid Penn.

Nick Seefeldt (CD) - Nick is a very steady pg who will make you pay if you forget about him.  Great outside shooter and leader on the floor which will make CD very hard to beat this year.  He is the key.

Skyler Roman (Chambersburg) - Many don't know too much about him but this sharp shooting guard will be a handful.  He can take his man off the dribble or pull up for the contested jumper.  He had a very good summer against high quality competition.

Matt Banas (Hershey) - He's been a very good prospect for quite some time and now it's time for him to blossom.  The 6'6 wing man can create problems for other teams when he decides to play his game.

Tony McCraw (CD East) - The quickest first step in the Mid Penn, McCraw can get past anyone.  He does a great job creating contact and getting to the line.

Reggie Dudley (CD East) - The lefty shooter/slasher finds a way to score the ball.  He plays with no fear and will challenge anyone on the court.

Matt Aikey (East Penn) - Standing at 6'7 Aikey is developing into a very good post player.  Needs to add more muscle but he has good moves and a soft touch around the basket.

  1. You are living under a rock if you believe devin thomas is 6'10 I have seen the kid... espn and rivals have the kid listed 6'7 and 6'8 while they are known to exaggerate. Let's be serious.

  2. Maybe Devin Thomas will be pro in Israel in 3 years but certainly you are not referring to the NBA. There is a reason why top programs were not looking at him, all the interest he had was lackluster programs that hope to sneek into the NCAA tournament. The NBA is a league of elite athletic freaks that is dominated by only a handful of players. This is a bond and asinine statement you have made.

  3. This is a small town, don't be Anonymous on here....

I'm guessing you feel Devin is about 6'5 then?

As far as your "Devin will be a pro in Israel in 3 years but certainly you are not referring to the NBA" comment, I don't think any of us can predict someone's future.

What I do know is that when a kid is willing to work their tail off, good things will happen for them. A Pro is a Pro, doesn't matter where they play. Notice at the end of my comment I state "if his progress continues"...

You have to have vision and be able to see long term. Don't look at where his game is right now, look at where it can be in the next three years...

By the way, you may be one of the few people who think my statement was "bond and asinine"....

  4. Only solid D1 players go to Wake Forest and play in the ACC so I will go out on a limb and say Thomas is very, very, good. Don't knock the kid- Name another Mid Penn guy to go to the ACC in recent years???? The kid is a stud, flat out. I agree with coach Little about vison. Colleges don't recruit guys to come be stars as frosh (some times the kids are good enough)they develop them over years. People knocked on Jermaine Marshall and look at him now... Scoring at will last week or two and has jus gotten better.Same thing with Thomas.

  5. My friends I have been working with collegiate and interscholastic basketball for a number of years now out of Cincinnati, but born and raised in Harrisburg originally. Furthermore I routinely stay up-to-date with the high school basketball scene in the area and attend a considerable amount of games throughout the whole state of Pennsylvania. It is the best interest for my institution and I to remain anonymous. I will give you the benefit of the doubt coach little anything can happen and there are "rule breakers". At last I have seen many pros play in the high school and collegiate level I just don't see it with this kid... he doesn't have the athleticism, the shooting/rebounding ability against top opponents, I will agree he has heart but you need so much more then that. I don't believe he could compete in any of the Philadelphia school leagues. No mental toughness. Suspended last year for fighting? When you get to be my age and in my position you can see that certain swagger they have early on I don't see that at all. All the best players now are shipped to private schools, which helps most of them add that edge to their game. The last local man I saw do this was Lamar Patterson who is a similar player but helped himself out a great deal by leaving McCaskey while heading for St. Benedict's.

As for the second post my dear friend you are senseless to college basketball if you are just looking at the collegiate conference. Depaul is in the Big East that means they are great team correct? I am not knocking on Wake Forest by any means or the player that chose it if he feel it fits that is up to him. With that said Wake Forest is not what it used to be in basketball. Perhaps in a couple of years they should gradually get better they have done what many colleges do in hopes to return to the "holy land" a cleansing of the program by hiring bzdelik, and mass recruiting anything they can get their hands on this means there is about 5 other players on the team that can do or do better what devin does while they are the same class or 1 higher. Is anyone familiar with Dean Melchionni look him up. More or less I am looking at Jermaine Marshall now and no one rates him I can assure you no one wanted to touch the kid after his knee injury. He has done nothing for them thus far you think 20 points against BC is a statement? Averaging 7.5 ppg against teams like youngstown, USF,and ole miss is good? Where is Talor Battle maybe overseas if lucky? Arguably he is the best PSU player ever. I give all the blessing to coach Chambers while hoping to lead PSU basketball in the right direction because he is a great coach but as of now PSU is the whipping boys of the big ten. Google Penn State hoops I bet there is more about the women's team then men.
