Rutherford Stars represented the Central Penn area well this weekend taking 3rd place in the 5th grade pool in VA Beach. RS won their final game 55-21 Led By Justin Sauders 18 points 11 rebound performance.......
RS also got solid contributions from Alin Jones 14 point 8 blocks who proved he was the best big man in the tourney. Dashaun Archer chipped in with 4 points and 4 steals off the bench and made plays leading to several fast breaks......
But the player of the weekend had to be Saunders showing that when he applies himself he is in the conversation for best wing forward in central penn. if it wasn't scoring he was rebounding or making plays to help guide his team this weekend. Other solid performances were Tarajae Davis, Donovin Medina.......
Tournament Director said this Ruderford Stars team has all the tools needed to be a successful AAU program when he found out that this RS was only a rec team, and only has been playing together for the last few weeks. A MAJOR shout out goes to Brent Saunders and Sean Robinson for taking time and getting these kids extra exposure for the Central Penn Area showing again that the area has more than enough talent to be successful outside the area.
