South Central Select getting better with time....

This weekend, the 17U girls and 15U girls took their talents to Kean University in New Jersey for the Coaches Choice Tournament. Playing against teams from all over, both teams stood out all weekend long, evidenced through their performance on the court.......

Coach Hicks and the 17U girls started off their Saturday with a solid win over Central Jersey Rebels, 52-44. They followed it up with a large, mercy-ruled victory over Brick Shorestars. Much of the same continued on Sunday, as the girls bounced NJ Crusaders, 44-15. The 17U SCS girls completed their 4-0 weekend by finishing off Hudson Valley Knights, 51-44. An excellent weekend for the entire team, though rumor on the street is one of the players came up with a little bit of stitchwork. Congrats, girls!

Also with the 15U girls, Coach Hicks and Coach Stradley continued the winning ways. The team started off hot and soundly defeated Long Island Lightning, 60-28. They followed it up with an 8-point win over Bulldogs. On Sunday, the girls squeaked out a 3-point win over NJ Panthers and followed that up with a 54-37 win over Hudson River Hornets. Another 4-0 weekend for the girls and a lot to be proud of!

The 15U boys participated in the prestigious Maryland Invitational Tournament this weekend, held all over the DC-area. Coach Fletcher and the team couldn't maintain a slight halftime lead and dropped their first game to VJ Sports, 62-54. In game 2, things weren't going the team's way and they fell to Virginia Hokies Elite, 72-65. In their 3rd and final game on Saturday, the team finished the tournament on the right note and defeated Wilson Blue Devils out of North Carolina by a score of 58-43.

No report was received on the 11U girls and the results from their tournament in Philadelphia this weekend.
