CentralPABball Stars of the Season....

It's been a while but I'm back at it again....   The regular season is coming to a close and playoffs are around the corner...   There has been some incredible play by some of the guys and they should be noticed for sure...   We will be coming out with our Super 18, which consist of the top 18 players in the Central PA area this season based on the year they had....  Also our top underclassmen which is comprised of jv and varsity players....   But, here's some of the studs from the area this year...

Let's start off with THE ALL TIME LEADING SCORER IN HARRISBURG COUGAR BOYS HISTORY JAHAAD "HAND DOWN MAN DOWN" PROCTOR....  If there was any doubt on who the top player in the area was this year, I think he made a very strong case for that spot, definitely top 2 or more like a 1a and 1b with another player....   This young man carried The Cougars game in and game out putting up 24ppg while facing double and triple teams EVERY GAME and even scoring 40+ on 3 separate occasions this season!!!!   He also averaged 8.3 rebounds and 3 assist with 3 steals....   Looks like he's well on his way to a 3rd straight All State appearance....   His Cougars take on The mighty Rollers of Steelton-Highspire on Tuesday in the Mid Penn tournament so that should be very interesting as the old school rivalry will be re flamed....   The Holy Cross commit will take this team as far as he can and is determined to get that State title that he came Oh so close to as a soph....

The guy who is right up there even with Proctor is none other than Milik "3D" Gantz....   The "3D" stands for TRIPLE DOUBLE....   He's liable to get one every game he plays because of his high skill level and ability to make players better...  Gantz was able to lead his team to a #2 seed in Districts for AAA and they have just as good of a chance as anybody to win Districts...  With averages of 17ppg, 12rebs and 9.7 assist, this young man is having a fantastic season....  Already a D1 recruit, tons of top JUCO programs will be on his tail because after a year or 2 at JUCO, he could end up being a High Major player somewhere on the West Coast....

Everyone always knew Dejour "All Dey" Williams but this year he really came out of his shell....   After transferring back to Susquehanna, Williams was in takeover mode....   He showed his true ability after scorching Neuman Goretti for 31 points as he could not miss a shot....   He was faced with all sorts of trick defenses this year as teams did whatever they could do to try and slow him down.   All he did was still put up 17.6 ppg with 3 steals....

Dee'Quon Fleming came back to Central PA ready for war...  When I say this young man put in work, HE PUT IN WORK!!!!  With averages of about 20ppg and 10rebs he led his team to a Capital Division title and a 1st round battle against Harrisburg...   He has the ability to attack the basket and rise over his defenders while finishing strong....  He should be able to get into a nice situation at a JUCO and really take off from there....

One of my favorite players in the area is Tyler Hoagland from Cedar Cliff...  This young man is the craftiest player in the area and it's tough to press him....   His ability to go north and south at a fast pace is incredible and he can finish with the best of them...  He led his team to a tie for the Keystone Division regular season championship with Susquehanna but CC will represent the Keystone in the Mid Penn playoffs....   He'll be playing College ball at D3 Susquehanna University this Fall and I can see him one day being an All American there....   If he was 6'2, he would have been a D1 prospect I believe....   Doesn't matter though, he'll have a fantastic career at SU....

Deshawn Franklin from Camp Hill deserves just as much respect as anyone else on this list....   He was able to lead his team to a #1 seed for AA headed into the District playoffs while scoring 18ppg....   Scored 39pts on a tough SteelHi team this season and just knows how to finish plays...  An excellent free-throw shooter at 91%, he uses his body well to get to the line....  Very good team player and is a great teammate as well....   Although he has a fantastic supporting cast of juniors, they will go as far as Franklin can take them....  He's one of the few who can create a shot for himself or others....

Jaiarre Wilson and Montrel Morgan of York are two guys who are having great seasons for The Bearcats....  Both have reached the 1000 point milestone in their careers but Morgan is only a junior while Wilson is a senior....  They took their team to the #2 spot in AAAA Districts as big things are expected from this group and especially these two players....  Wilson has been creating incredible posters this season while Morgan has progressed into a top pg in the State of PA....

A super athlete and exciting player from the Lancaster area is none other than Kobe Gantz....  The 6'3 junior lead guard is super explosive and can get anywhere on the court he pleases....   putting up 18ppg with 4 steals and 9 rebs, you can see why he's considered a 4 star player by most recruiting websites....   His upside is through the roof and I can see him landing a nice D1 school come next Fall....   Younger cousin of Milik so it must be something in those family genes....

Dwight "Buddy" Whitlock has been one of the most improved players in the area but now have moved up to a top 3 to 4...   This kid has all the tools in his bag and can use them at any time....   Has the ability to rise over the defense with athletic finishes or pull up for the deep three ball...   He can defend with the best of them and is super fast getting the ball up the floor...   Has quite a few Division 1 schools watching his progression right now so it will be time to narrow down some schools for Whitlock soon....   He's still only 17 so there's always a chance he will go to a prep school to continue to work on his game and body before entering College....

Lonnie Walker from the Reading area has been a household name since this summer...   Already one of the top 50 2017 players in the country, he is very fun to watch and super competitive....   Playing on a well balanced Reading team averaging 15ppg and 6 rebs, he does what's needed to win games...

Quintin Ward from Susquehanna is the force inside that just scares the other team....   Just when they think they slowed down Williams and Nehemiah Mack, here comes Ward with a powerful, Shaq like dunk....   Ward is a problem in the paint and can finish with both hands....   A monster on the glass and averages almost 3 blocks per game as well.....

Christopher Whitaker turned into the 1-2 punch that Harrisburg needed with Williams leaving....  He was able to step up to the plate and provide the needed offense, especially since Proctor drew double and triple teams....   Only a soph, Whitaker has a strong body and knows how to use it well....   Seems like he's in a groove now as he's been scoring the ball great, including a career best with 23 pts this past week....
