Here's a look at some of the matchups for Friday......
State College @ Harrisburg - This game holds more weight than what most people think.... State College is sitting in 2nd place with only 1 loss and these guys are for real!!!! They have everything you need to be a very good ball club.... Harrisburg is coming off of a very high emotional win vs Williamsport and they will need to be extremely focused for this game... Harrisburg will need another big performance from Shoop Sheppard if they want to pull this one out.... With the improved play of Jerel Patterson with his on the ball defense and deep penetration and dishes, Harrisburg could blow this game away.... But, if this game is close, I can see State College pulling this one out due to poor free throw shooting by the Cougars.... State College by 5 points as they steal one on the road....
Mechanicsburg @ McDevitt - McDevitt is coming off of a big win at Trinity and I really think they found their grove.... Do it all combo guard Donte Vaughn (8pts, 7assist, 5 steals and 5 rebs vs Trinity) does all the little things that don't show up in the newspapers... Expect him to duplicate those stats along with explosive backcourt partner Justin MacArthur... The key is Will Pierce and if he can hold Zach Brunner in check.... Brunner is relentless around the basket but Pierce loves to play physical... We shall see what happens... I'm going with McD by 17 in an EMOTIONAL win in their last game at Tracy Hall.....
Middletown @ Steelton - Middletown is still trying to figure things out as this has really been a tough year for them.... It doesn't make it any easier that they face an emerging Steelton team tonight.... Trent Zimmerman will have his hands full as Steelton will be all over him all game.... Sophomore sensation DeeQuan Fleming has been one of the best players in Central PA so far and Mark Perry is relentless on the offensive glass... Steelton wins this one easily... 24 pt win.....
Emmanuel Baptist @ Valley Forge - This could be EBCA's toughest game of the year.... Valley Forge always has a good team as they have size, speed and shooters along with a solid 1-3-1 zone defense.... Coming off of a long break, EBCA will have to relay heavily on jr combo guard Kareem Oden (19ppg, 9rebs), jr foward Collin Reeves (8.5ppg and 8rebs) and 8th grade do it all guy Tyrece Little (10ppg, 6.5rebs and 6 steals).... The key to this game will be how Little and Oden responds to the pressure.... If Little can use his speed and crafty ball handling to get into the lane looking for Oden, it will be a long night for Valley Forge.... If EBCA applies pressure all game, they can get an early lead and pull this out... But I'm going with Valley Forge by 7 points... Too much experience....
Susquehanna @ Palmyra - Those Indians are on a roll and it won't stop tonight.... They have too many bodies for Palmyra but Plamyra will fight... Adam Newhard has been on fire from behind the arc and leading the team in scoring at almost 17ppg... Trey Baker is coming off a career high in scoring with 25pts on Lower Dauphin and Logan Stoval is solid inside.... Still not enough to handle Jonas Page, Joe Marshall, The Mack Brothers (Gabe and Bud), Takhi "Fats" Turner, Jhared Dunbar, Sovalas Pope and Jordan "AI" Millberry..... Expect Hanna to press and attack every opportunity they get.... Once they can put together 2 full halves of good basketball, they will easily be one of the top AAA teams in the State..... Hanna wins by 11 pts in this one.... Good fight by the Cougars at home...
CD East @ Carlisle - Both teams need this win badly if they have any hopes of making the playoffs... This division is too tough to be an under .500 team this early... CD East had a very winnable game vs Steelton and really wish they had that one back.... East will need a big game from sr pg Eddie "Always Steady" Cowan as well as Anthony "AWright" Wright.... but the recent stellar play of Siele Johnson may end up being the difference in this game... Carlisle is extremely athletic and Johnson excels in games like that... Will they be able to contain high flyer Jordan Dockens is the question? Carlisle has a number of guys to worry about as Chad Smitz, Josh Clippenger and Bamasa Bailor can score double digits at any moment..... With big guy Jerome Evans coming off the bench to provide extra muscle, CD East will need to use sr Big Man Ethan Cooper a lot because he's a space eater at 6'3 270lbs.... Carlisle is a tough place to win at but I see East pulling this one out and winning by 5 points....
Camp Hill @ Susquenita - Coach Fletcher and company at Camp Hill will get a good win tonight.... Camp Hill has been led by Deshawn Williams as the super athletic sr. guard will set the tempo early.... This game should be over by halftime.... CH by 22 points....
Central Dauphin @ Cumberland Valley - Central Dauphin is much better than their record looks... They are in every game that they play and with them being at full strength now, they just might be able to pull these games out.... I can't even lie, I was really high on Cumberland Valley in the pre season.... I thought they would be right behind Harrisburg.... So far I'm wrong but it's still early... Tonight's game will be two very smart teams shooting a ton of shots from the outside along with some hard nose defense.... Brian Laird will need a big game today and that should open the inside up for Zayd and Ryan Beaver.... CV really has to get this win because next week will be a tough one with State College, Mifflin and Harrisburg on the way.... I think Coach Hibbs will have his guys ready for this battle as CV pulls out a much needed win by 8 points...
