Kimber Classics hosted some of The TOP local Talents....

This past Saturday was a special basketball event held at John Harris HS in memory of the late Evangeline Kimber, former principal of Harrisburg HS.....  She was a special person in the community, always looking to help the youth by showing tough love and having a caring heart....
Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach Kirk Smallwood invited teams from all over Eastern a and Central PA....  Teams such as Harrisburg, Cedar Cliff, Cumberland Valley, York High, Northeastern, Shomokin, Mifflin County, Fiere Charter and Impact Academy came out to support the cause.....   CentralPABBall.com also supplied a team to cover blank teams on the schedule if they had to leave early...

Harrisburg HS looked really good ad a whole as Sensational Senior Jahaad Proctor lit the gym on fire....  His ability to hit shots and his high IQ will have him ready for Division 1 ball immediately. ...  He averaged nearly 34 pg in his 3 games and that's with 16 minute halves with running clocks....   Proctor can even post up now so that got him to the line a whole lot... Chris Whitaker and Nasir Johnson played incredibly well and it looks like that will be a nice 3 guard line up for The Cougars. ...  Whitaker has a sweet mid range game and he loves contact. ...  Johnson is a pesky defender and seems to always make the right play....

Northeastern was very impressive as well...  The Tandon of Kobi Nwandu,  Michael Coleman and Donovan Maxfield will be as good as any AAAA guard combo around...  These guys just know how to put the ball in the hole...Nwandu hit a game winning three versus York High while Coleman was a terror on both ends of the floor....  His ability to block shots in transition will be a major key for NE....

Cumberland Valley and Cedar Cliff stood out as well.....  These are two teams that will rely on TEAM ball to win games but have some really talented players on each roster....   CC lost their big guy Cam Paul due to an ACL tear...  That's a big loss but Coach Rowe will figure out a way to have them ready....  Coach Hibbs has done an awesome job over the years getting his guys ready for higher level basketball...  CV really know how to play with one another and they are fun to watch as well....

Impact Academy is a newly formed Single A team in York led by D1 Prospect Montrel Morgan. ...   He was his typical self, s o ring roughly 22ppg and making plays happen all day....  The development of Elliott Wilson and NyKam Beverly is key for Impact....  If they can consistently score double figures within the flow of the game, These guys will have a nice run towards Districts. ...

CentralPABBall.com showcased a team with McDevitt guys like Milik Gantz, James Williams and Manny Piper plus a trio of some of the areas top sophomores in Harrisburg Academy ' s Jalen Gabbidon,  Susquehanna Tyrece Little and CD East Nick Ramsey. ...    These guys put on a show as Gantz finished with 16pts, 9 rebs and 4 steals, Williams finished with 26pts, 12 rebs, Little had 11pts , 5 steals and 12 assist, Gabbidon had 17 pts including 3 threes and Ramsey finished with 14pts...    They put on a show winning both of their games by 30 plus and getting dunks all night...  Williams is improving by leaps and bounds and as his ball handling and strength improves, we could be looking at a Division prospect here....  Gantz has a great feel for the game and does things that can't be taught....  Super athletic attacking the basket and can finish with authority....  Little looked like he was fresh out of the weight room as he has already added 13 lbs of muscle since last season...  The stock rising soph was tough as nails on defense as it was tough for guards to consistently get past him...  Showed a few nice pull up jumpers but found his teammates all day setting them up for easy baskets...  Gabbidon is looking smooth as ever as the 6'4 combo guard hit shots from all over the three point arc....  I really like this kid as he has a high ceiling....  Him partnered with Little and Ramsey looked REALLY GOOD!!!

York HS lost all 3 of their games but showed flashes of a championship team....  They have a new player in CJ Boxley running the show so it will take some time for all of the pieces to fit together....  When they figure it out, watch out....  They have ALL the tools to win a State title....  Kris Johnson could be the most under rated player in the State of PA....  At 6'6, this young man can do it all....

All in all, it was a great weekend of basketball and look forward to the next event...

Coach Little
