Most Surprising players so far this season....

As we are almost halfway through the season, it's nice to sit back and reflect on how things are looking so far...  There's certain guys that we all expected to perform at a high level such as McDevitts Big 3 of Dyllon Hudson Emery, Milik Gantz and Justin McCarthur, Harrisburg's Jahaad Proctor, Steelton's Anthony Wright, New Hope's Montrel Morgan, Dover's Ryan Beck, Readings Zy Burdine, Northern Lebanon's Sam Light and Cumberland Valley's Matt Tamanosky just to name a few ....
BUT, the reason I love this game is because there's always those kids who come out of no where and perform at a high level...  These kids make you say "when did he get so good?" or "was he always on that team?" .....   Let's take a look at some of the guys who are contributing in a major way for their team while helping them get WINS......

Dwight "Buddy" Whitlock (CD East) - Buddy is a scoring machine for CD East...  He can hurt you in many ways with his offensive package...  The 6'2 high riser has the total package and is averaging about 20ppg so far....

NaGus Griggs (New Hope) - No one knew who this kid was but all he did so far was average 16.5ppg and 7rebs in his 1st season player varsity basketball....  The 6'1 senior wingman can attack the basket well but can also stick the outside shot with the best of them....

Dejour Williams (Harrisburg) - Being a Harrisburg PG means having HUGE shoes to fill...  After a questionable start, Williams has TURNED IT UP and took over games with his quick first step, gutsy play and leadership....  The 6'0 jr lead guard is looking like he's ready to take Harrisburg to another level...  3.85 GPA aw well so he's a fine prospect....

Rameik James (Steelton) - Talk about making it rain, this young man is second in the area in 3 point field goals made and trust me, James will let it fly....  The 6'0 sr shooting guard is averaging about 17ppg and is having a great year so far...   If you lose him on the court, he will burn you....

Manny Gonzalez (Central Dauphin) - CD had a slow start as they tried to get their identity together, so the 6'0 sr pg Gonzalez decided to step his game up...  well it worked and Gonzalez is the clear cut leader of this team now....   When Gonzalez is on top of his game, CD becomes a tough team to play against...

Kobe Gantz (JP McCasky) - For a kid who only played JV ball last year, Gantz is playing like a Varsity vet so far and the funny thing is he's only a sophomore....  The 6'1 lead guard has a deadly jumper and is blessed with court vision for days...  I think this kid will be a big time prospect by time he's done....

Dashawn Millington (Carlisle) - This young man is having a fantastic season thus far averaging about 10ppg and hitting many key shots in the games....  The most exciting thing about this he has 3 more years to keep it going because he's only a freshman...  He's great at slashing to the basket or hitting the pull up jumper off the dribble...  Kid is real fun to watch....

Tyrece Little (New Hope) - Most kids who start out playing JV basketball are happy with getting a varsity jersey...  All Little did was consistently get varsity minutes averaging about 6ppg and 6.5 rebs as a freshman...  The consistent play earned his way into the starting line up and that's huge for a freshman on a top 10 ranked team in their Class (Single A).....

Lonnie Walker (Reading) - Unless you're from the Reading area, Walker wasn't known...  After having a great summer and beginning of the season, Walker is now on everyone's scouting report....  As a 6'4 freshman guard, he's averaging about 10ppg and 5rebs but the best is yet to come.....

James Williams (McDevitt) - When you think about McDevitt you always think of the Big 3 (Gantz, McCarthur and Hudson-Emory) then other guys who play major roles such as Mark Ray, Donte Vaughn and Caleb Barwin....   now here comes Williams off the bench giving McDevitt something they needed in a big way, rebounding and post defense....  Don't mis understand, the 6'4 soph forward can score the ball as well, he already had a 20 pt game this season....  He's a difference maker already and he's just getting warmed up....

Antanee Pinkard (JP McCasky) - Another kid who was hardly known until this year....  Pinkard played the back seat for years and it's finally his turn....  The 6'3 jr guard can score in a variety of ways and has good length so can defend multiple positions....
