MLK Classics at Imhotep HS

For those who had the opportunity to make it out to Imhotep HS Sunday morning, they had a chance to see some really good young players in the Philly area but also from Central PA....   Rasool Hajj out of Philly
and Coach Little from Central PA Basketball hooked up to create a partnership between Central PA and Philly for various events throughout the next few years....
Advanced Hoops team at Imhotep HS Coached by Coach Little and Coach Caruso

This game involved some of the top middle school kids from the Philly area and a few of the top 7th and 8th graders from Central PA....

The event was recorded and can be seen at www.whistletoppssportsnetwork.com after tonight...   Here's a look at the guys who played with the Advanced Hoop Ballers at this event....

Casey Caruso

Drewmonti Lodge

Gerald Jarmon
Casey did what he does as he hit numerous threes from all over the court....  Casey is very crafty with the ball in his hands and knows how to use the screen and role very well....  He still needs to work on his foot speed and defense which would help make him a more complete player....  Caruso ended up getting MVP for Advanced Hoops during the first game.....
Jabril

Javon Coaxum

Kratos Fernando

Myles Robinson

Lodge played big for Advanced Hoops with his length and outside shooting...  He has a nice soft touch from outside and can drive to the basket as well...  Lodge, standing at 6'1 has to not be too comfortable with the perimeter and get inside the paint a little more...  I think he can do some damage inside but settles for the jumper....  Played very well overall.....

Gerald is a 7th grader whose basketball knowledge is well beyond his years...  The kid has great strength and a high IQ for the game...  Did a good job handling ball pressure and attacking the basket...  One thing I would like to see him do is penetrate and create for others a little more...  He already has the ability but now needs to just make it happen.....

Jabril was a Philly kid who was added onto the AH team as a late addition....  This kid has quickness for days and a sweet pull up jumper....   He was the difference maker in the 2nd game against Philly Ballers....  He was all over the place and his energy was amazing...  He was the spark for his team to come up with the victory....

Coaxum was a nice late pick up to the team...  The 6'4 8th grader is very mobile and does a good job getting two hands on the ball for rebounds...  Coaxum is going to be REAL good if he continues to develop at this rate....   He has to finish better at the rim but he ended up winning Co-MVP along with Jabril in game 2....

Kratos is a raw talent with not much organized basketball experience...  As an 8th grader, he is incredibly athletic and has a nice physical body to bang with others....  Kratos will need to play more organized ball which will help him develop into a much more developed player....   He did well contesting shots and even grabbing a few rebounds in limited time....

Myles Robinson is another Philly kid but is only a 7th grader....  The southpaw looks like he's just starting to love the game and he got better and better as the day went on...  Strong at attacking the basket but need more games under his belt so he can gain the necessary experience....

Tyreese is another 7th grader with lots of upside...  At 6'1, he has incredible length and knows how to attack the basket fierce...  Didn't take as many outside shots that I would have liked for him to take because he can hit the 15 footer easily....  With his team up by 1 point with 8 seconds left, he calmly went to the line and drained two free throws to make it a 3 point game...  Way to step up for a young guy....
