Last day of he showcase and these guys were HUNGRY... Did a fantastic job looking for each other and playing unselfishly... This was a GREAT event put together by Charlie Fortney and his staff and it was all for the kids in the area... There were as many as 25 College Coaches in the gym at one time and some of these kids will be leaving with an opportunity to play on the next level... Here's a look at some of the top players for the day...
Montrel Morgan 6-1 combo soph (New Hope) - was the best offensive player in the gym by far... Stock is rising fast as this sophomore has a variety of offensive moves... Locks down on defense as well... 4.1 GPA as well....
Anthony Wright 6-5 combo sr (CD East) - showed a very high IQ and makes his teammates better... Tough to defend because of his guard skills at 6'5....Great prospect!!!
Matt Tamonosky 6-5 PF sr (Cumberland Valley) - did everything well especially running from rim to rim and finishing plays... Strong player and is defenitely a scholarship kid....
Drew Shankweiler 6'7 PF sr (Mechanicsburg) - most improved player as he can knock down the 3 ball as well as finish inside...
Sam Light 6'0 pg sr(Northern Lebanon) - starting to look like a true pg as he made his big guys look really good... As he gets stronger, he's going to be even better because his bball instincts are so good.
Dwight Whitlock 6-2 Wing Guard jr (CD East) - nice physical specimen for a jr and he's getting better and better every week... Plays above the rim at times.
Savalas Pope 6'7 PF sr (Susquehanna) - he's a monster in the paint and loves to bang... Seems to be getting more and more into shape....
Luke Rutledge 5'8 pg sr (Lower Dauphin) - this guy as so efficient on the court as he hits jumper after jumper... Always looking to find his teammates too....
Zack Galic 6'7 PF sr (Cedar Cliff) - did very well hitting the 15 footer and chasing shots all night... He's a big that a Small D1 school could take a chance on because his upside is so high....
Derrick Brimmey 6'1 WF jr (CD East) - one of my favorite players cause he gets everything from his 110% effort... Got layup after layup and knocked down jumpers as well... Can be a key player for East... One of the most polite young men I've ever met...
Aaron Gress 6'3 jr (CD) - this kid is the best kept secret and he proves it time after time... Can shoot it from anywhere on the court plus can get up over the rim...
Kareem Oden 5'10 sr (New Hope) - really starting to figure out that pg position as he got assist after assist... Did a great job defending full court as well... A few College coaches were asking about him tonight since they never heard of him... Averaged 20ppg at Emmanuel Baptist last season...
Jaki Bowman 6'4 combo jr (Steelton) - really athletic and loves to play the game... Had some nice moves attacking the basket.... Soars in the air at times and is fun to watch...
Jermari Murphy 6'1 WG sr (New Hope) - He's your "DO IT ALL" guy because he does a little bit of everything on the court... He might have averaged the most steals in the entire event and since he can hit the outside shot, teams had to pay attention to him.... Hard working kid and a coaches dream...
Overall this was a fun event to watch and I'm sure the players appreciated the opportunity to compete in front of College coaches.... Some kids who had nothing, walked out with something, and that's what it's all about....
