Central PA kids performed well at Pangos East All Freshman/Soph camp....

First off I have to start off by reminding everyone that I have attended A LOT of events over the past 3 years and seen A LOT of talented players....  I must admit, other than The Buckeye Prep Showcase in Columbus, OH, this event had the most talented Freshmen and Sophomores that I've seen....   There were players from all up and down the East Coast because they felt like they needed to be there to match up against other projected HIGH MAJOR players....

There were some outstanding match ups at camp at every position but a fun one to watch was 5'9 2016 lightning quick guard out of Dematha Alani Moore match up with just as quick silky smooth 5'10 lead guard Bryce Aiken from The Patrick School in NJ....   Those two guys were crafty with the ball and had moves for days...

Another matchup I really liked was 5'11 Philly guard from Neuman Goretti Vaughn Covington vs 5'9 Stevie Jordan from Conwell - Eagan in Philly as well....  Those two are relentless when attacking the defense and run that pg position like they've been doing it for years....

Some other guys who really impressed me were Mustafa Al-Sadat Lawrence from Newark Tech in NJ, Quade Greene, a smooth pg from Neumann Goretti with handles for days, Lapri McCray-Pace out of Conwell Eagan was a MANCHILD on the court, Joe Hampton out of Dematha who might have been the most dominate player in camp, 6'10 Sedee Kieta who was extremely skilled out of Vermont Academy and also 8th grader Tre Wood a 5'10 guard from Maryland with a CRAZY handle and had plenty of "AND 1" moves this weekend and also the super long and athletic AJ Wilson who at 6'6 has a 7 foot wing span and was a top 10 player at camp I thought......

Now don't get me wrong, although these guys were talented and performed well, there were many of players who did really well....   Players from Central PA even made a name for themselves as a couple of guys even made an Allstar game....

Tucker Lescoe 2016 6'1 Shooting Guard (Cocalico HS) - Now those who knew of him already knew he was good after averaging 15ppg as a freshman on varsity last season....  but did anyone know he was good enough to make the top 30 game at a PANGOS event?  I think he knew because this kid was CLEARLY one of the best players in the camp this weekend...  He had a mean stepback jumper and showed a very high IQ on the court...  plays defense really well and was a great teammate as he even made the extra passes to help his teammates....  This kid has my vote for top 2guard in the sophomore class in Central PA right now....

Montrel Morgan of New Hope
Montrel Morgan 2016 6'1 Combo guard (New Hope Charter) - Morgan did most of his damage slashing to the basket and getting out in transition....  Defense was tough as he used his length to get deflections so they could start the break....   He played with a very good guard in Alani Moore and it was nice to see them play together...  Morgan ended up making the Top 60 allstar game which was loaded....  Very good weekend for him as he showed that he could play with some of the nations top players...

Kobe Gantz 2016 6'1 lead guard (Lancaster Catholic) - Kobe played a good all around game but didn't get the opportunity to run the show like he's used to....  His defense was solid as normal and he got out in transition and finished very well....  I would have liked to see him take more control like he normally does because this kid is something special to watch with the ball in his hands....

Tyrece Little 2017 6'0 combo guard (New Hope Charter) - Great weekend for Little because he was one of the better defenders at camp....  He used his versatility to defend from point guards to power forwards....  did a very good job penetrating and finding teammates plus rebounding from the guard position was impressive (11 rebs in one game) ....    He does a lot of those little things that don't show up in the stat books but his effort was appreciated by his teammates and coach....   May need to transition to become more of a pg because he's really comfortable with the ball in his hands and making decisions....

Brandon Coleman 2017 5'9 lead guard (New Hope Charter) - Coleman had his 1st experience at a high level event like this and he did a good job holding his own...  He showed a nice stroke from the perimeter and made good passes as well....   As he gets stronger, this kid is going to be a really good player...

Sean Good 2018 6'7 forward (St. Theresa's) - Sean did very well against some of the top big guys in the country...   He did a great job running the floor and finishing in transition....  He does well throwing outlet passes after the rebound to start the fast break plus he can chase shots well for a young guy....  Only an 8th grader so skies the limit....

Casey Caruso 2018 5'9 lead guard (Susquehanna MS) - Casey did what Casey does, knock down shots....  He may not have gotten as many shot attempts as he would have liked but when he got the opportunity, he hit his shots from deep....  Caruso showed that he can play with the older guys as he got much better on defense as well...  The best is yet to come for this youngster....

I appreciate the hospitality the staff at Pangos showed me as well....  They took care of all my needs and I was able to meet a lot of goo people out there....   Special Shout out to Corey Pegram from www.dunkdog.com as we had the chance to kick it for a while and also the veteran scout Van Coleman of www.hot100hoops.com who did a great job evaluating the talent and helping to create the Allstar teams....

Until next time...

Coach Little
