Harrisburg Area kids make Allstars at Hoop Group Skills Camp...

10 kids from the Harrisburg, PA area went to the World Famous Hoop Group Skills Camp in Stroudsburg, PA to get some "old fashion" outdoor skill work....   Most of the kids weren't used to the outdoor conditions because everything is done indoors these days....   Nevertheless, the young men fought through the rough heat, bugs and rigor of the camp....  Here's a breakdown on how the kids performed.....

From left to right back row: Tim Kater Jr., Tyrece Little, Shaquon Anderson, Justin Hamm
From left to right front row: Manny Piper, Timacha Simpson, Tamel Little, Jabari Tate, Tarajae Davis, Ahkee Cowan

Ahkee Cowan (Harrisburg HS 10th grade) - Ahkee was his usual self racing up and down the court being a pest on defense and attacking on offense.  He has a very quick first step and loves to take the pull up jumper....   He ended up making the Allstar team while averaging roughly 14ppg for his club....

Jabari Tate (Steelton HS 10th grade) - Jabari showed a very high IQ on the court and did a great job getting his team mates the ball in spots where they could easily score....  His jumpshot improved during the week as well as his conditioning...  Coaches felt that as those two things continue to improve, he will be a heck of a player....  He made the AllStar team as well as he got assist after assist...

Justin Hamm (Susquehanna HS 10th grade) - Justin had a fantastic week and really grew as a player....  He was the guy who did all of the little things to help his team win ball games....   He really improved on his inside passing and offensive rebounding during the week...  He's a good role player cause he's willing to do all the dirty work....

Manny Piper 10th grade McDevitt - Manny was what they called " Mr. Clutch" as he loved to take the big shots in close games....  He plays with a high motor and can shoot it from almost anywhere on the court....   If given a chance at McDevitt, he can be a really good zone buster for them in the near future....

Shaquon Butts-Anderson (Rowland MS 8th grade) - This young man stole the show as he just looked hungrier than most of the campers...  Quon has the ability to put the ball in the hole at will....   I'm not sure if there's a better scorer than this kid in his grade throughout PA....  He walked away with the "Floor General award" in the NBA division as an 8th grader...  Very impressive.....  Also made the All Star team....

Tamel Little (New Hope Academy Charter 6th grade) - This ended up being another huge week for Tamel as he was asked to play "Big Man" for his team...  All he did was respond with 11 rebs per game and helped to lead his team to the championships...  He did a good job hitting threes and finishing around the basket....  If he keeps working, skies the limit...

Tarajae Davis (Susquehanna MS 7th grade) - This kid walked into camp virtually unknown but left with everyone knowing his name....  All he did was walk away with the MVP in his division plus win the championships for his team....  Tarajae has the heart of a Lion and loves to play the game....  Gonna be something special if he keeps it up....

Timacha Simpson (Nativity School 8th grade) - This kid is a true hooper... Don't let his size fool ya, he knew what to do with the pill....   Simpson did a fabulous job running his team and dishing to his big guys....  Showed a nice floater when attacking the basket as well.....  It will be nice to see how he pans out with a little more height...

Tyrece Little (New Hope Academy Charter 9th grade) - This was one of those weeks where Ty was going to have to carry his club, and that he did....  He faced double teams in most games but was still able to find ways to make plays....   Scored a little under 21ppg for the week as he looked to improve on his leadership skills on and off the court....   Made the Allstar team as well....

Tim Kater Jr. (East Pennsboro MS 8th grade) - Everyone loves to play with Kater because of his high IQ and love for the game....   He is very deceptive with his quickness because he doesn't look like he's as fast as he is...  This kid was taking guys off the dribble and posting them up which showed he knew and understood mis matches on the floor....  Made the Allstar game as well....
