Down to the Final 2 teams in Kirk Smallwood Summer League

If you happened to miss the action in the Summer League games today, SHAME ON YOU!!!!  There were 4 really good games between the Varsity A and Varsity B divisions to finalize the final teams for Championship Wednesday....
In the first game, you had Harrisburg II (Which is a mix of JV and Varsity role players) vs PA Hoops (A mix of Harrisburg Christian and Harrisburg Academy)....  This was a very good game through halftime with Harrisburg II leading by 2 pts....  Coach Proctor went with a group he felt was hot ending the 1st half and had 3 rising 9th graders (Elyjah, Damien and Quan) to go along with DeShawn Franklin who led with 21 pts and Jaylen Sloan....  This group responded by pushing the lead to 10 in the next 5 minutes with tough aggressive defense and sharing the ball.....  Then once they inserted Donte Proctor, he provided extra energy to keep the club going....   PA Hoops had some very good play by Rising senior swingman 6'6 Conner Schroyer and rising freshman 6'2 guard Jaylen Gabbidon to go along with good pg play from Scott Gaffey....  Harrisburg pulled out the victory to ensure a spot into the Varsity B Championships....

Next game was a battle of two of the top single A schools in District 3 New Hope Academy vs Lebanon Catholic....   These two teams met in the Semi Finals for Districts last year where LC walked away with a 67 - 49 win....   New Hope was pretty pumped to see them again and jumped out to an early 8 - 3 lead behind three pointers from rising senior pg Kareem Oden (10pts, 5 assist) and super soph Montrel Morgan (17pts) plus an easy layup by do it all soph Elliott Wilson (16pts, 9rebs)....   LC would continue to play well behind strong play by crafty pg Jaylan Colon and sharp shooter Anthony Pletz who led with 13pts....  New Hope had some strong bench play behind sharp shooter rising jr. Mike Coleman (9pts on 3 threes), The Sole Freshman on the team Tyrece Little (5pts, 7rebs), Super quick rising jr. Carlos Soreno (4pts, 3 steals) and rock solid sr. guard D'Vontae Farquar (6pts, 3 steals)....  They were able to keep the game flowing smoothly to a 21 point victory for New Hope....    They will play Harrisburg II on Wednesday at 7pm for the Varsity B championships......

Next up was a preview of two of some of the top teams in the Mid Penn in Trinity and Cedar Cliff....   CC was missing two starters in 6'7 Zach Galic and 6'4 Derrick Ford and boy could they have used them tonight.....   Although CC had Big Cam Paul in the middle, he had to go up against two studs in 6'5 Ford Tough Brandon Kuntz and 6'7 super athletic Josh Trumpy (16pts, 11rebs)....   Not to mention Trinity has an All State Guard in Dom Antonelli (11pts, 5assist) that ya kinda gotta pay attention to....    Trinity did a great job dictating the tempo of the game and taking advantage of mis matches on the court....  Guys like sr off guard Lorel Robinson (4pts, 4assist) and rising freshman pg Austin Gilbertson used their craftiness to make plays for others....   Tyler Hoagland did all he could for CC as he handled the pressure well...  Just didn't have enough horses as CC fell to Trinity 42 - 28.....

The last game of the night was McDevitt vs Cumberland Valley and there was some serious talent on the floor for this game....   McD has a little more than a few kids who are being looked at by Division 1, 2 and 3 schools and that says a lot about that program....   If it wasn't Milik Gantz leading the break for a no look dime, it was Justin MacAuther attacking the basket with his strong body.....  Next time down you have under recognized Donte Vaughn who does a little bit of everything on the floor and only a real coach appreciates what he does for a team....   He played really good defense on the ball as well as hit open shots and find guys in good shooting position....   Mark ray is another kid who demanded attention and although he wasn't scoring a bunch, he always made the right play.....   but the real monster today was 6'6 wingman Dyllon Hudson-Emory who killed with 19pts and 16 rebs as he owned the inside...  He and rising soph James Williams were all over the glass using their length to frustrate Cumberland Valley....  The Valley had some very strong play by Grey Kline (13pts) and Matt Tamonosky (16pts, 11rebs)...  These guys are going to be very scary when the regular season begins, I can guarantee you that....

Tuesday will be three Allstar games beginning at 6pm and the Wednesday will be 3 Championship games.....   Jr. High game between Lancaster aau and McDevitt at 6pm followed by the Varsity B game of New Hope and Harrisburg JV at 7pm with the Grand Finale McDevitt vs Trinity at 8pm....   Come on out and support the young guys and get a good night of basketball too.....
