Pizza Hut Atlantic showed great local talent...

Spooky Nook has been a location to hold numerous events weekend after weekend and this one was better than expected....  The Pizza Hut Mid Atlantic Classics usually host a few local teams under Advanced Hoops and plenty more from the Scranton area but this year there were teams included from South Jersey and Philly as well....  Regardless of where they came from, the local teams from Central PA continued to perform well for their fans.....  On the Girls side, Advanced Hoops 7th grade Fortney, Team PA 15u and 17u each won the championships while on the boys side, Team PA 15u boys won the 16u division beating Advanced Hoops 16u Gold....

Advanced Hoops 7th grade Girls had to battle back from a 10 point deficit vs Columbia Ravens to come up with a 1 point win 44 - 43 on a couple of clutch free throws...   That was an amazing win for them since the Ravens are one of the top 7th grade teams on the East Coast.

Team PA 15u (Little) Girls played up in the 16u Silver Bracket and ended up going 4 - 0 while winning the title....    It was a total team effort with these girls and they are tough to contain....  They have a ton of quickness, share the ball and defend hard as nails....  Leading scorers for the tournament were Tiara Little with 14.7ppg, Kayana Chisolm 12.3ppg, Liz Voight 9.8ppg and Jerra Stokes 8.4ppg....

Team PA 17u girls got a big win over JB Hoops 17u Elite ....   JB Hoops is the premier team in the Scranton area so that was a step in the right direction for Team PA 17u girls....

On the Boys side, Team PA 16u played in the 17u division and lost the 1st two games playing short handed...  The next day they rebounded and went 2 - 0 while winning the 3rd place Championship....  On day one, they were led in scoring by Kyle Everhart 18.5ppg and Tyrece Little 16ppg, 8rebs while on day two Sean Good (18ppg, 9rebs, 6 blocks) and Justin Henry (17ppg, 7 assist) led the way...

Team PA 15u boys played in the 16u division and had to fight their way to the Championships....  Eventually getting there having to face Advanced Hoops 16u Gold and that was a GREAT game....   Advance Hoops Gold was led by Jordan Gillis of CD East who was on fire from everywhere leading his team with 26 points but it wasn't enough to pull out the victory....   Team PA 15u used the inside presence of 6'6 Freshman from Pottsville Ian Renninger who finished with 27pts and 14 rebounds while Tim Kater followed with 19 points going 9-10 from the free throw line....  8th Grader Ali Anthony led the team in steals with 6 of them and his hard nosed leadership and toughness on defense was what the team needed in order to pull ahead and spread open the lead....  Blake Thomson of Cedar Crest had some key layups in transition while Felix Kortright of Lebanon was tough to handle off the dribble...

Great weekend overall and this weekend at Spooky Nook for the Big Shots tourney should be even better competition for everyone to see....
