CPABball Top 40 HS Showcase was a HUGE Success...

Central PA Bball.com 1st Annuel Top 40 HS Showcase

Not a bad morning run for Central PA at all.....  While most kids were turning over in their beds having dream after dream, a select few of players from the Central PA and Philly area attended the 1st ever CentralPABball.com Top 40 HS Showcase....
Runhouse.net and CentralPABball.com partnered up to host an event that some people will talk about for years to come....   There's not too many times where people will have the opportunity to see a selected group of talented young athletes in the Central PA area showcasing their abilities...   These games had a few high flyers, some long range shooters, some crafty ball handlers and even some young talent that showed they are ready to play with the big boys....   They players first had a workout by Ex CD East Star Jon Breeden where he put them through a series of drills to get them warmed up and test their IQ....   It was a great way to set the morning off....   If I were a Division 2 or Division 3 Coach, this is the spot I would have wanted to be for sure...   While lots of people thought that the event was not going to be too competitive, I feel sorry you missed this one and we'll see you in the Spring....   The player bio's will be down the bottom of the page and each player there did something to impress us today...   We were fortunate to even have Michael Bullock from Pennlive.com and The Patriot News stop by to watch the action that was represented from Harrisburg, York, Reading, Lancaster, Philly and NY....   Check it out.....

Team White
These guys went 1-1 for the day losing the first game to Team Red out of Philly but beating Team Gray at the buzzer in the 2nd game....   Very Exciting to watch and LOTS of Defense on the floor with this group...
Team Red (Philly)

These guys went 1 - 1 for today and played really well together...   These guys from Philly came to play and played that Philly rugged style basketball attacking the basket....   They had some really nice ball handlers out there...

Team Black
Team Black went 2 - 0 for the day and really clicked well...  There was a nice mix of older and younger guys and they all got it done....    Some of those guys have a chance to be special...

Team Gray

Team Gray went 0 - 2 but they looked real good out there....  Lost the 2nd game at the buzzer and these guys had the 3 balls flying all over the place....  Not to mention some highlights from Aaron Gress who plays over the rim....

Jeshon Baskerville - Harrisburg HS

Jaylen Hawthorne - Central Dauphin

This young guy is going to be a handful for teams....   Jaylen did a great job handling the ball and using his length to defend all over the court....   Only a freshman and should have a chance at Varsity minutes this year...

Ty'ante Gibson - Nativity School
This young guy has a whole lot of heart...  Only a 7th grader but you couldn't tell by the way he played....   Ty'ante has a nice feel for the game and will continue to improve....

Jeshon was a nice surprise because I had never seen him before...   The southpaw was really crafty and has lots of speed on him...

Gideon Gadson - Port Vervis HS, NY

This young man came all the way from Port Jervis, NY just to get the chance to play against different competition in another State...  He played some tough defense and hit some real acrobatic shots...  When this kids body begins to develop, he's going to be tough to stop....   Very unselfish player too....

Tim Kater - Bishop McDevitt
One of my favorite players because of his inside-outside game....  Kater can shoot the ball with the best of them and did a great job doing it...   He rebounded the ball and made some very nice plays for a Freshman....  Although he was in Football mode, he still made a smooth transition onto the hardwood...

Quadre Truesdak - Walter D. Palmer HS
Quadre has some nice length and can slash to the basket with ease....  He showed that he can make some nice moves to the basket and finish with either hand equally well....

Kharon Parson - Walter D. Palmer HS
Kharon has a nice handle and can really play the pick and role game well...  Showed the ability to knock down the pull up jumper and played tough defense...   Very good defender as well....

Tyree Gibson - Reading HS
Ty was one of the BEST players in the gym today...   He showed he can really handle the ball, get to the basket using his size, and he can hit the pull up jumper....   At 6'4, he can make a really good off guard on the next level and College coaches need to pay attention to him right now...  The kid has a world of confidence and many times during the day he let it be known that guys couldn't guard him....   He was correct...

Tucker Lescoe - Cocalico HS
Can you say "In the gym range"?  That's the 1st thing that comes to mind when Lescoe touches the ball...  He can really shoot it from anywhere on the court plus he can put it on the floor and attack the basket...  He hit a 26 foot jumper to win the game vs Team Grey but he shot it with ease too....   Only a Jr. he is on track to score his 1000 points this year early in the season...

Jayden has nice length and can finish inside very well....   Showed flashes of putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket as well...

Jayden Hurmendi-Roach - William Penn HS

Dee'quan Fleming - Steelton Highspire HS

Fleming has an extremely high motor and incredible athleticism....  He attacked the basket and finished with a variety of moves in the air...   He can stick the jumper but also dunk the ball with ease...   Primed to have a fabulous year for Steel Hi....

Christian Ray - Donegal HS
When you talk about a kid getting better by leaps and bounds, you have to bring up Ray's name immediately....  A young man who was once known as a jump shooter is now driving to the hole and finishing through contact too...   He's gotten a little taller and stronger and will be able to do some damage this year at a new school in Donegal....   Listen up for the name, you'll hear it a lot this year...

Jordan Lynch - Central Dauphin
Jordan is a pitbull with the ball in his hands...  He plays real strong and loves the contact...   Does a great job playing through the hits and can finish in the paint with ease...   He's going to be an impact player this year for a very underated CD team...

Xavier Samuels - Harrisburg

Xavier was one of the youngest guys at the event (only a 7th grader) but he was not afraid to get right in the mix...   Did well rebounding the ball for a young guy...  He's going to be a really good player in the near future....

Milik Gantz - Bishop McDevitt HS
"It's Showtime", that's all you can say about this young man....   Milik is the best I've seen in the open floor with the ball and he's still getting better...   One play he made today, he threw the ball off the glass to himself and dunked it with one hand HARD!!!!   His passes were incredible and his court vision is like no other....   He has about 4 offers on the table but keep your ears open, a COMMITMENT is coming soon....  REAL SOON!!!!

Kobe Gantz - McCaskey HS

The younger of the cousin duo, Kobe is nothing to play with....  He is super athletic and really knows the game...  Always has his head up and looking to make plays...   He had a nice dunk in transition and can get up in the air...   Kobe is going to be a special player I can see why Temple is expressing lots of interest in him...

Brendan Latimore - Trinity HS

Defense...  Defense....  Latimore is a up in your face kind of guard who loves to defend...  He made it hard for his opponent to get comfortable handling the ball and he also does a great job in making plays for others...   Can also stick the 15 footer down off the dribble so that makes him a tough cover...

Derrick Biney - CD East HS
Derrick Biney is Mr. Fundamentals...   He keeps it simple and gets the job done...   He always finds ways to make plays happen so at the end of his games, he had double doubles...   Has a nice jumper and can handle the ball more like a guard which has now made him even more difficult to defend.

Roman Letterlough - Susquehanna HS
Most improved player after this summer...  The 6'7 PF is transitioning into more of a Wing Forward, which can really make him dangerous....   Roman grabbed the rebound off the glass, dribbled down court, went behind his back and finished with the right hand (He's a lefty)....   That had the entire gym jumping that play...   He finishes well inside with either hand and is going to have a great year for Susquehanna....  If I were a PSAC school, I would have been there to talk with him before a Division 1 MEAC school grabs him up....   His stock is rising rapidly!!!!

Dejour Williams - Susquehanna HS

Williams is one of the most under rated players in Central PA...  All he's been doing is winning games and saving teams for years....   Well, he did the same thing today as he was lights out from three and got to the basket at will....   He plays with a certain level of confidence that many players don't have...   He also showed he can defend full court and with his added strength, he plays a lot more physical...   If he keeps it up, a nice Low to Mid level Division 1 school will grab him up and pay for his education....

James Williams - Bishop McDevitt HS
This young man is always in the right place at the right time...   He showed that he can block shots, rebound and get buckets...   I really love his warm spirit on the court...   He was a great teammate and owned the paint when he had the ball in his hands...   He's going to shock a lot of people this year...

Gerald Jarmon - Susquehanna MS
Only an 8th grader but make no mistake, this young man was ready to go....   Jarmon has game, that's the bottom line...  He knows how to score the ball and plays with his head up the entire time...   He played really well and had double digits his second game of the day...   He never looked as if he was in awe of all of the talent that was on the floor...   Can't wait to see him play against his own age...  SHEESH!!!!

Tyreese Smith - Susquehanna MS
Tyreese showed the ability to take guys off the dribble and attack the basket at will...  Another 8th grader who played well beyond his years...   Didn't score as much as he usually does but was all over the glass and defended extremely well...   He's going to be something special as he continues to grow and develop...

Dylan Bleacher - Hempfield HS
Dylan was a crowd favorite with his ability to shake his defenders and get to the cup...   He hit jumper after jumper but also racked up a ton of assist....   He was one of the players at the event and his game is well respected....  At one time, he hit about 3 threes in a row....   He was real fun to watch and these College coaches better grab him asap....   They may mess around and miss out like a lot of schools did on Kevin Agnew from Trinity who is now a D3 All American at Lebanon Valley College....

Casey Caruso - Camp Hill HS
Caruso was a crafty guy with the ball in his hands....  Just when the defense thought they had him trapped, he found a way to split them...   His jumper wasn't on like normal but he got to the basket and shook a few defenders as well...   Only a freshman and will be a key piece to the success at Camp Hill....

Timmy Edwards - Trinity HS

Timmy has natural scoring ability....  He did well attacking the basket and loves that baseline drive...  He's not done growing and could very well hit 6'7 by time he's done...  He's going to be a force for Trinity this year so keep an eye out for him....

Mark Ray - Bishop McDevitt HS

Man was this guy on FIRE today....   Mark has a really nice shot and hit about 11 threes for the day...   He already has a College shot and College body, with a little more experience with the ball in his hands, he'll be ready for the next level real soon...   He's only getting better and better each time I see him play...

Tymir Cooper - Martin Luther King HS

Tymir was tough to guard...  plus he let people know it was hard to cover him....   He showed a nice pull up jumper and his defense was on point in both games...   Tough competitor and only a sophomore....

Aaron Gress - Central Dauphin HS
This young man was the talk of the gym with his circus moves in the air...   Gress can really fly in the air and makes it look so easy...  He had a few nice dunks but even when he didn't dunk, his lay ups were sweet....   He's going to make a College really happy with his athleticism and ability to knock down the outside shot...

Jonathan Hall - E & S HS (Philly)

The big guy was Silky Smooth...  Very good ball handler for 6'7 and he can also throw it down on someone....   Had a few nice dunks and even hit a couple of threes off the dribble....   He's going to be a problem this year for E & S....

Willie Grant Jr. - Paul Robeson HS

Grant was tough with the ball....  Made a lot of acrobatic moves and finished through contact time after time...  He makes it look really easy and has a great feel for the game...

Yohn Hall Jr. - Abington Friends School
Yohn loves to take guys off the dribble from the wing...   Very crafty when attacking the basket and can finish with both hands...

Jermal Savage - Paul Robeson HS

Savage likes to shoot that jumper and has a nice set shot....   Did a very good job finding the holes and attacking them...   Also found other guys cutting to the basket for easy buckets...

Tyrece Little - Susquehanna HS

Ty was one of the best defenders on the day...   His strength makes it tough for guys to take him off the dribble and he did very well getting his hands on balls (pause)....    Knocked down a few threes and had some nice assist from penetration...  Had one of the highlights of the morning making a defender fall after a tough combo move with a spin at the end...   He's going to be a pretty good 6th man for a Really good Susquehanna team....
