Harrisburg Area kids put on a show at the world famous 5 Star Basketball Camp...

A group of kids from the area had an opportunity to get an experience of a lifetime going to 5 Star Basketball Camp at East Stroudsburg University....  This had to be the longest 4 days of basketball in their lives as their days began at 7am and ended at 10pm.....  These kids not only represented themselves and our area well on the court, but they also performed well off the court with exceptional mannerism.....
Overall, we ended up having 9 kids make the Allstar team between the two divisions, 2 allstar Co-MVP's, 1 Top Play Maker, 1 Top Rebounder, 1 Mr. Station, Mr. Station 13, 1 Free Throw Champ, 2 three on three champs, 1 Playoff MVP and a bunch walked out with championship trophies as well....  These kids had the opportunity to meet, play with and against kids from Spain.....  It was a great experience for our youth overall......

Here's a look at the kids from the area.....

Tamel Little
Tamel Little (rising 5th grader) Emmanuel Baptist - Tamel had probably the busiest and most tiresome week of his life....  He did very well at Stations and played hard in the games....  If he continues to work hard at the game, he can be something special...  He has good size for a rising 5th grader and has good strength....

Tyreese Smith
Tyreese Smith (rising 6th grader) Susquehanna MS - Tyreese is adding more and more to his game each week...  He was put in a position to compete against bigger, older, and stronger kids and he never backed down from the challenge...  He's finishing inside at a high rate so once he begins to put the ball on the floor more often, he'll be a serious all around threat...  His team went to the championship game this week...

Jordan Spencer
Jordan Spencer (rising 6th grader) Susquehanna MS - Jordan was a camp favorite this week....  Coaches couldn't stop talking about his effort, heart and joy for the game...  Jordan was the 2nd smallest guy in camp but had one of the biggest hearts...  He won the Mr. Station award because of the energy and effort he brought to the table everyday at Stations....  That says a lot about his work ethic....  His team won the championships this week....

Tarajae Davis
Tarajae Davis (rising 6th grader) Susquehanna mS - Tarajae showed a very high IQ for the game...  He has so much energy that he was all over the place on defense....  He was able to hold his own on the court against a lot of bigger guys...  His coach even thought about an allstar nomination for him because of the effort he brought every game...  Davis is going to be a really good player in the future....

Julian Grey
Julian Grey (rising 6th grader) Susquehanna MS - Julian "Ju Ju" Grey had a great week...  He was nominated for most improved player.  Although he didn't get the award, it goes to show how much better the coaches thought he got from beginning to end...  He gave tremendous effort at Stations and worked hard in the games...  He just will need to take the information he learned and apply it at home each day....

Tim Kater is focused
Timothy Kater (rising 7th grader) East Pennsboro MS - Lil Tim loves these type of events...  He did a very good job knocking down the 3 balls and also finding the open guys cutting to the basket...  Tim plays on a high level as he's one of the top young guys when it comes to thinking the game of basketball....  Tim was selected to the Orange/White Allstar game which is an honor for one so young....  Expect big things from Tim as he also plays with East Pennsboro HS JV team this summer....  Not bad for a kid who hasn't touched a 7th grade classroom yet!

Jalen and the White Allstars
Jaylen Hawthorne (rising 7th grader) Swatara MS - Jaylen's game is starting to expand as he's becoming more of a natural pg....  He did a good job getting others involved and not only looking for his shot...  He also defended well at camp...  Jaylen made the Allstar team as well as he was the 2nd leading scorer on his team...

Chris Whitaker & Tito Flemister are Co MVP's
Christopher Whitaker (rising 8th grader) CD East Middle - Whitaker was an offensive machine this week.... When he makes up his mind about scoring the ball, not too many people can stop him....  Chris may have been the leading scorer in the NCAA division....  He brought a lot of energy to the floor and is very vocal about the game...  Sometimes a little too vocal, but that's Chris!  LOL.....  He was the Co-MVP of the Allstar game scoring 19 points, and 5 rebs as his team lost by 3 points...

Tito Flemister (rising 8th grader) Harrisburg - Tito was the crowd pleaser this week as he put on a show...  He did what everyone wants to see at camps, SHOWBOAT!!!   The cool thing about it, it was the right plays to make....  Tito earned the Top Playmaker award for the way he got his teammates involved but also scored his points...   Tito also won the free throw shooting contest and was named Co-MVP of the Allstar game as his team won by 3 points...  He had 11 points, 6 assist and 3 steals....

Tyrece Little
Tyrece Little (rising 8th grader) Emmanuel Baptist - Tyrece had a good week as he showed an all around game...  Ty did some of everything for his team, points, rebounds, blocks, assist, and played all 5 positions at times....  He won the Mr. Station 13 award (Top guy at a particular daily Station) and was part of a 3 on 3 championship team....   He made the Allstar team on the losing end but contributed with 9 pts, 12 rebs, 3 assist and 4 blks....

Austin Gilbertson
Austin Gilbertson (rising 8th grader) St. Theresa - Austin started the week off just playing well...  After he learned he was snubbed from the Allstar team, HE WENT OFF!!!  Austin went on to lead his team to win the NCAA championships while winning the Playoff MVP award....  Austin went for 23pts in the Semi Finals and 21 in the Championship game....  This kid is going to be something special if he continues to work as hard as he does....

Rell & Ty getting ready for Stations
Kentrell Rucker (rising 8th grader) Susquehanna MS - Kentrell loves the camp atmosphere because he always turns it up a notch out of town...  Rell did a little bit of everything from scoring, dishing, rebounding and defending all positions....  He was also an Allstar and helped to lead his team to the championships...   Scored 12 pts and 4 rebs in the Allstar game....

Tayvon is focused
Tayvon Bowers (rising 8th grader) Susquehanna MS - Tay was a beast on the boards this week...  He showed the ability to take guys off the dribble and he played strong defense on some pretty good players from Brooklyn, NY....  Tay was an Allstar this week as well...

Chris, Tamel and Nicholas (in the back) with all eyes on the speaker
Nicholas Dean (rising 8th grader) Susquehanna MS - This was a new experience for Nick and he handled it well......  Was nominated as one of the most improved players at camp as he did a much better job finishing around the basket and handling the ball....

Jon Baker
Jon Baker (rising 8th grader) Cumberland Valley - Big Jon had an awesome week at camp...  He was a double double guy all week and even did it in the Allstar game....  Jon walked away with the Top Rebounder award and definitely got better as the week went on....  Jon is going to be a fine player in the future standing at 6'1 already, he's not done growing....

Jabari Tate
Jabari Tate (rising 9th grader) Steelton - Jabari played in the HS division being that he's going into the 9th grade and what he did was show he belonged on the court....  While he may not be as fast or tall as most of the kids, he's just as smart, if not smarter....  He had a lot of assist and was a crowd favorite...

Jairee Pinkney
Jairee Pinkney (rising 9th grader) New Hope Academy - This was the coming out party for Jairee as his game improved daily....  Jairee was all over the court on defense and played a huge part in his team winning the championships for the NBA division....  He scored 8pts, 3 blks and 4 steals as he caught everyone off guard....  When he grow, he'll be difficult to deal with....

Manny Piper
Manny Piper (rising 9th grader) Bishop McDevitt - Manny did what Manny does...  He shot the ball from everywhere and knocked them down with consistency.....  Manny was on the championship team and played a big part in the victory....  He was the only 9th grader to be named an Allstar so that should be great for his confidence.....

Jaron Black
Jaron Black (rising 9th grader) Harrisburg - Jaron is a student of the game....  He loves the game so much that he was sort of like another coach on the floor....   Jaron was more of a set up guy trying to make sure he got the ball to the right people....  His coach told me he was a pleasure to coach and loves his enthusiasm....

Ibrahim Morris-Togans
Ibrahim Morris-Togans (rising 9th grader) Harrisburg - Ibrahim was either night or day this week....  He was either on task and working hard or not working hard at all....  He has ability hidden inside but it only shows when he decides to apply himself....  Standing at 6'1 already, he's not done growing and can be a force once he recognizes it...

Collin Reeves
Collin Reeves (rising junior) Emmanuel Baptist - Collin had a heck of a week shooting the ball....  He was on fire from all over the place and he was stellar on defense as well.....  He had the task of defending the top pg in camp in the championship game....  He made it difficult for the guard to run his team....  Scored his camp high 16 pts in the Semi Final game....

Kareem Oden
Kareem Oden (rising junior) Emmanuel Baptist - KO is new to the area coming from Queens, NY....  He has that NYC style of game and showed everyone what his game was all about...  He drew fouls and finished over and over and over again as he got into the paint at will...  He was snubbed from the Allstar team but was voted Top 6th man, which goes to the top player at camp who did not make the Allstar team...   Expect big things from him as he bring his talents to Central PA.....

Be on the lookout for the next camp/clinic that we do.....   These young guys did an outstanding job and should be highly praised.....
